Jim's such a softly spoken gentleman, then you see him tearing through Hilberry at race pace like an absolute lunatic. Incredible.

Another incredible and unique insight to what goes on . Hairs on the back of my neck stood up when you mentioned the Britten, a lump in the throat, when you mentioned Mark Farmer. Both he, Nick Jeffries and Shaun Harris, done John Britten proud. Geoff Cannel screaming ' SHE WONT START, SHE WONT START' after it was trying to exit the pits. The whole of the Island glued to Manx Radio and willing it to start, and the cheer from everyone when it did... Hizzys Norton is a close second. I sat at Cronk-Y Mona watching that race, but not knowing then, history unfolding. I do miss the variety of the bikes racing.

Jim mentioned Chris Fargher. The best ride over the mountain I ever had. Was when Chris passed me going into the Gooseneck on his production Rgv250 on his way to scrutineering. What a pleasure & education it was to follow him to Douglas. I hope he has recovered from his injuries.

Hi Jonathan great content as always really enjoyed this episode with Jim. How about doing a series of similar interviews with each of the rest of the TMs that way we could get to know a bit more about the rest of the team. keep up the great work Cheers Jim O'B

My most memorable sounding TT bike is. Steve Ward,s RG500 leaving the Creg, 81 TT Many years later when speaking to Steve. I told him my recollection of the sound of his RG. He was made up, as he had made those pipes himself. Mr Steve Ward was a true gentleman, a very talented racer. And so many others. Gone far too soon.

Once again, brilliant stuff, and great to finally see Jim! 😁👌 Did Honda ever race the RC161 (250 inline 6)? That is a lovely sounding bike! MV500 triple as mentioned, and also Nortons Aprilia engined V4 sounded incredible in the flesh 🤩 I’ve a similar memory from bottom of Barregarrow, first place I ever saw the 1000s come past after seeing that iconic Honda advert of McGuinness bottomed out in a magazine and thinking, that looks a spectacular spot to watch…! It was absolutely mind blowing! The noise of them approaching from Glen Helen gradually building with that huge crescendo as they arrive, the proximity sat in the hedge, the heat and the smell, the air being sucked past you, the speed and the ferocity when they bottom out, and then the whiff of fibreglass as they disappear off up the road wiggling around like it was nothing at all, just totally hooked after that!!😂😍 Would love to hear more chats with Jim or any of the other TMs, it’s a pleasure listening to the memories and insights that only you guys can give 👍 Also, how about a 1 bike class (like the old R6 cup)? All identical machines, leaves it up to the rider and their setup to make the difference? 🤷♂️

I'm feeling old - I remember Jim in his pushchair with Jim and Elaine (his mum and dad) at the Kings Norton club. This was at the old Billesley community centre in the early 1970s. Martin Waters

I personally think the most memorable sounding bikes gotta be Hailwoods 250 Honda 6 and Ago's MV's 3 cylinder. Not saying the modern ones aren't because they sound awesome too.
