I simply love Neil Gaiman. He is as cool and well spoken when interviewed as when he writes. God I love his voice!

A decade has passed, and things have changed!! 🩷So cool to see him talk about today and how no one had an idea how things were going to look.

👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿 Fabulous interview by Neil. Wondrous song by Amanda. Wow --- truly inspiring, extraordinary human beings whose message is exactly what this world needs. Also, their interaction with each other is beautiful, because they are spouses and best friends and creative persons in their own unique ways.

Neil Gaiman charges $100,000 for a speaking engagement. I understand he does this because he doesn't want to do too many. Fair enough. I love his work. The man could read me the phone book but I also think his charm is not of value to the students here. When asked, (paraphrasing) "how to make a living as a writer/artist?"" he gives his slow, small smile and his dry English delivery saying, "you need to learn how to monetize your work". And everyone laughs, but student's money, a lot of it, was spent on this interview and his speech and I believe it is a cheap shot to say something that trite and useless to those stepping out into the mad world of creative work. Talking about making art is a whole lot easier than talking about how to monetize it and students need that more.

I really liked Neverwhere the TV series. The production values/atmosphere wasn't great but I figured as it was kind of about homeless people I thought that it fit the theme.

Great art is not simply provoking a deep emotional reaction, that is the mantra of bandwagon conceptual artists who just use shock, gimmick and grotesque tactics to repulse and shock people into a reaction...usually nothing clever or skilful about that, just a cheap and easy means of gaining attention. Great art in what ever form should be connected to deeper meaning, symbolism, purpose and ideally aesthetics, beauty or representation, communication etc...

In the beginning of the talk, someone is strangling a woman and as the talk progresses she falls silent, probably dead. Yet the audience is unmoved. The audience has no soul.
