The United States was refraining from air strikes Kyoto by World War II. However, in order to give Japan a serious damage, Kyoto was determined as the first target of atomic bombing. Finally the strategy was avoided. Kyoto was able to save the cultural assets for 1200 years at the critical moment.

The first part, as you walk along the empty streets, is a thrilling suspense with strong kafkaesque atmosphere, cold, crystalline and impersonal. I almost waited a horror story... Whereas the second part, after you got to the shrine, takes an unexpected turn, becomes kindlier and much more intimate. I like it, it's full of memorable parts, though the entire work is less coherent, at a point you fall into a different mood.

Silence is my home. Silent places are my temple and church. Wind is my background music and birds are my choir. People talk too much sometimes, not necessary too much, but they say wrong things and things that don't have real meaning. Nature talks too but its own way.
