2022. I'm Cameroonian and I swear this song is still a strong banger in our clubs. It's hard to go to a party and the DJ does a throwback to 2000s hip-hop and this song isnt played. Dilla made extremely tender beats (not just on Donuts -- he was making sweet tender beats in '95), or complex and improvised beats like he's a jazz quartet, or weird af headbangers, or beautiful neo-soul, or the nastiest rawest shit you ever heard, or the funkiest shit you ever heard. He didnt have a style, he had a dozen styles, and he was equally incredible in all of them, there's nobody like him. Like, he produced 'Make It Hurt' by Busta the same year he produced 'Reminisce' by Bilal.

People complain about rap exploiting women. IMO this video celebrates them as being beautiful, vibrant and having personality. The video features a low camera angle which shows the viewer looking up at them implying they are powerful. The video doesn't imply that Q-Tip is in control of them rather he is in the frame whilst they are dancing to the music itself with him there. The different women have completely different outfits and dancing styles which reflects their personality not to mention when they are standing in formation it implies power, they aren't just scantily clad and grinding on him or paying him attention. They all look flawless, I think it's a beautiful video!

Like the full clip free on the gangster beat they finished it making sure no one else can go on it but still showing respect and bringing the good old hip hop back ! Gotta love this old and their new

In music there is a wonderful thing called phrasing, where the performer punctuates or caresses the flow of sound according to the mood and emotion.
