These people came from housing somewhere. Hsg shortage isn't the issue. Crack down immediately on property scammers like RealPage and prevent alot of evictions that add to the prob. Also hold accountable the "nonprofits", including DV agencies that claim to help but don't, while their CEOs and elected officials make 6 figure incomes. This problem, in this country in the 21st century is totally preventable and unacceptable.

I had a friend i think he used a friends address he found a job and lived in a tent next to his job and saved his money bought a truck then rented an apartment all within 6 months . he was a strong guy sadly he died he started to buy coke by the once and he came to buy 2 onces and he was killed for his money when he went to pickup his package. he was a strong guy i don't think he ever prayed being strong can be a curse . humility comes before honor. i would rather a guy be weak and be a humble homeless guy that had the favor of the Lord than a strong dead guy.

I see people who made bad life decisions and they are the ones who often get rewarded with free low income housing for not adulting. At the same time, all of us barely making ends meet are robbed of our hard earned money to pay taxes to subsidize the lives of people who just want to stay high. When you get fired, you simply go look another job, even if its one you don't like. I always say it to myself, if for some reason I end up losing my job, first place I am applying to is the Amazon warehouse and do that for a couple years then transition into a job I prefer.

I don't see why we can't just raise taxes in Washington and get these people small houses. If we did a 10% of income tax added to what we already pay in taxes we'd make billions that could house all our homeless.

Because it’s not the tax payers responsibility to babysit those who make bad life decisions. Firstly, 10% is terribly high. Regardless, your suggestion allows for bad decision making at the expense of those who work hard to make a decent living in an already difficult environment. It’s a good intention at an unfair price. It’s one of the reasons why people complain about cities like Seattle. We allow for this cycle of homelessness and drug abuse to continue and the citizens are paying for it
