Third Quarter Shop Update!
Well, it’s been nice to have some time at home and in the shop for a change! Lots of shop changes this time!
New Shop Stuff
• Clamp Wall Organization - I hope you all watched that video! I’ve got to use this on a few projects now and I should have done it long ago! Pretty sure you all got a sneak peek at this in the last quarterly review!
• TS Caddy - Again, another recently released video that’s gotten used for a couple projects now. Absolutely love it!
• Laser Cart - This video is coming soon but, you guys get a sneak peek here
• Chisel Rack - Another video that’s coming soon and another sneak peek for you guys. This one will be part of an entire “Shop Tweaks” video that will be coming out soon - Scheduled for early October. The chisel rack is one of 4 or 5 different little projects for that video to improve my work flow in the shop. Many of those projects are in this video but, I don’t want to give them all away..
• Some updated video equipment - This is all behind the scenes stuff but, again, just some minor things to make things in the shop flow a little better!
• New Lathe is in! Laguna 24/36. More to come on this as I learn it and get the chance to do more turning.
Viewer Questions
• Had several requests for the Clamp Wall Organization Plans. I didn’t do plans for this one because everyone’s shops and needs are different. I do have my original Sketchup drawings as well as some PDFs with the dimensions on them if you want them. My contact info is in the show notes. Drop me an email and I’d be happy to send them to you free. This project is also posted over on the forums so, you can check them out there as well.
• Got asked if I added the Festool TS55 to the shop. Yes I did and I added the CT26 as well as the boom arm as well. Such a pleasure to be able to roll that over to the assembly table when I need it!
• Got asked if I plan to do a review on the new General Finishes Hard Wax Oil. I actually used this product on the chisel rack so that I could compare as well as see how it holds up in comparison to Rubio. My preliminary review is that if they were sitting in unmarked containers, you wouldn’t be able to tell them apart!
• Got asked when I’ll be doing the bed to finish up the spare bedroom in our house. The bed is actually complete and I’m currently editing the video footage from that project. I know there will be 2 videos and they’re scheduled to start about mid-October.
• Got asked if I used the new laser to create the logo inlay in the TS caddy and when will that review be coming out. It’s in the works and not forgotten. I’m a complete rookie on that machine so, I really just need some more time with it before I’d be comfortable doing a review on it. Yes, the logo in the TS caddy was make with it. That was actually one of the sample pieces that I made.
• Got asked how far ahead do I do projects before the videos are released. Ultimately, that depends on my work schedule. Because I work so much on the road, I really have to bank the material when I’m home so that I can maintain a consistent release schedule. Would be a lot closer to real time if I didn’t work on the road.
Coming Up
• Laser Cart - Pretty sure that’s the next video out. I went through a lot of trial and error on that one!
• Shop Tweaks - A series of smaller projects that just weren’t good for stand-alone videos so, I lumped them all together and sped them up. Not a lot of fancy woodworking in them but, they all helped improved my work flow.
• Queen Sized Bed - 2 videos to finish up that spare bedroom
• Ray’s shop - I haven’t shot any video as of yet but, the slab is poured and they should get going on the building soon!
• Let me know what you’d like to see - With my list of house projects dwindling down, it’s time to come up with some fresh ideas! Drop me an email or respond here and let me know what you’d like to see..
Social Media Stuff
Website - I’m continuing to see some nice growth with the website and people getting the free plans. Thank you!
Amazon Affiliate Page - Again, thanks for the support! It really does help keeping the lights on!
Instagram - Probably the closest to real time on what I’m building! Good place for those sneak peeks!
KZbin - It’s been a good year content wise! I’ve managed to maintain the schedule this year with some good quality projects!
Forum Site - I’ve seen a little new growth there but, as usual, we need more!
FB - I don’t normally put this one in here but, I do have a FB page. I primarily only post the video schedules there but, I’m open to expanding it to something different if there’s any interest?

Looking forward to all the videos in the pipe. I always liked your four plier rack. I’m sure I could figure it out. Bandsaw out traced plier head/halves. Glue a piece to both sides. Maybe tilt it out 5-10 degrees. Still one of the best designs and rarely seen anywhere. I use a diagonal cutter and needle nose all the time. Not sure what the other piers you have in the rack. Maybe a normal pair and a mini linesman.

Thanks! Pretty much how I built that many years ago.. No tilt though.. I keep large "lineman" pliers, needle nose pliers and 2 different sized side cutters in there.

Good info, Kev~! Just curious, but what kind of work do you do? Based on the number of days you said that you're home (28?), it sounds like you'd be a long-haul driver or similar. Looking forward to that next project video. 🙂

I work in oil refineries as a Safety specialist. I'm typically the one that does the gas testing and permit writing for hot work and confined space entries during turnarounds. So, I work in several different refineries throughout the year. Last year was a bit busier than normal!

This video is dated September 9th. Today is October 3. I can check it every few days and in about two weeks can hear you talking. I am sorry to say, not this time. I know you have no idea what to do, but I thought you needed to know. Thanks.
