Update guys, just installed mine today. Just like he said the hardest part is the leather clips on the bottom cover. Taking them off and putting the new one on. Taking the old column cover off was easy. Installing the paddle shifters was easy. Putting together the four piece column cover replacement took me like 30 minutes.

Did mine in 30 minutes, it was easy overall. Hardest part was removing the plastic around the column I squeezed the edges and pulled down and it popped off. I have a 2014 Q50 premium. Definitely a good and fun mod.

just for notice. You actually don't need to order Bolts and Nuts from Nissan. Simply go to place like Home Depot or Lowe's. Bolts are standard M6 bolts and Nuts are any nuts that fit M6 bots. So for a summary, 2x M6 bolts and 2x nuts that fit M6 bolts.

I found the bolts at an infiniti dealer (you can also find them in a Nissan dealer), the nuts were not available in my area so I bought some at home depot ¼ fine thread. Thankyou 😁

I have seen it done. I don’t think the guy was too pleased with the results but it didn’t look too bad. The holes were just bigger than they needed to be. I considered doing it myself with a dremel but found the deal in the shrouds.

That part number shows a column with power tilt. Is there a column cover for paddle shifters and the manual tilt lever underneath?

Fun fact, the Nissan Maxima and Altima paddle shifters also work well with the 14-15 Q50 models, and they look better

Looks are obviously subjective but yes, I think we’ve mentioned it a few times in the comments and in other videos that there are several cars you can use paddles from which helps broaden the search and gives more options. Maxima and g37 paddles are often used in these Q50 upgrades.

@@Firehazzard I believe they are just the same photos which can definitely cause confusion. Watch through the video again--I show the part number on the box for the shroud I purchased. It is manual tilt. These are also nissan part numbers so you can call a nissan/infiniti dealer and confirm.

Only difference is auto tilt or manual tilt. Obviously it has to say “sport” because only the sport had paddle shifters.

Yes, some. 2014s and 15s seem to all be equipped with plugs. It seems as though some 16s were and some were not. I always suggest pulling the shroud and looking before buying!

Maybe if i was 50lbs heavier and my face and hair was different... But you're right, paddle shifters with a cvt doesn't even make sense. Don't remove them--just don't use them.

One Fine Trek totally helps man! Keep the good vids coming! On another note I got that magic drift rear diffuser and man you are right it doesn’t go on easy on the top part of the bumper. Did you use double sided tape and does it show?

TheMkpep I did use 3m double sided tape. I also heated the diffuser up to sort of shape it and taped just the top until it was really cured into place before I attached the under side. The tape doesn’t show too bad. Only shows because I used thicker tape. You can get half round door trim to cover the imperfect edge.

That is correct. The manual tilt column shroud has a cutout for a level. The auto tilt is a big circular cutout.

I’m not totally sure. I doubt the g37 paddles are compatible. You could remove the steering column shroud to see if it’s pre wired. I haven’t seen anyone install paddles on the new ones yet.

Hey I’m about to do this modification. Do you know if the q50 steering column is the same as a q70 as I’m taking the paddle shifters from a q70? Both our cars have power tilt.

I would imagine they are the same paddles. G37, 370z and maxima paddles for as well

Yifei Song you’ll want to pull the shroud and double check if it’s pre wired. Some are and some aren’t after 2015.

have you noticed shifting is a bit more responsive with the paddles vs manually shifting with the stick? I did this a few months back and it seems that way for me.

It’s hard to tell for me honestly because of the tune. After being tuned, the shifts seemed to be a bit more snappy so I’m not sure if it’s the paddles or not, but I am very pleased!

I got the ecutek tune. I don’t believe the trans can be tuned technically, but whatever settings are adjusted made the throttle much more responsive which possibly just makes it feel more responsive. It’s not super quick when you’re at half throttle, but wide open it shifts quite firmly

One Fine Trek quick question, is it possible to make cutouts on the base model shroud instead of buying the 2A shroud?

Mohammed Hossain Yes. I considered doing it myself. I’ve seen one other person do it, but they were not happy with their results. They probably didn’t have the right tool or they don’t have the most steady hand. I’d say if you go that route, look at some pictures, use an air saw or small dremel tool and take your time.
