My retiree “supply chain management” allows me to make the binding strips a few days before I use them. As I use a variety of local woods for necks fronts, backs and sides there are many aesthetic choices for binding. I consult with my wife as she has excellent artistic taste. I tend to use black walnut, white oak and burr oak. Burr oak sap wood has a lovely lacy appearance. It is great for fretboards also.

I used Bubinga several times. I wouldn't use it for necks. It tends to warp a bit.

I bought fiberglass rods from Home Depot that provide a good amount of pressure, so much so that my first attempts with the go bar deck was problematic bc the top of the go bar deck would slide up from the pressure from the go bars. These were a great find at Home Depot bc they were about 20 dollars for 20 rods. Then you go to the closet section and buy white tips. I ended up getting 40 rods and am very happy with my setup now.

I purchased 6mm fiber glass arrows online in lots of 20, cut off the flights and arrowheads. Slipped on 6mm table ends and now I have excellent rods for a fraction of the price. 😊

6mm diameter that is. They come different lengths. I used a couple of large online sellers.
