WEPA! Watching this gave me chills. I’m a college student planning to go to med school and I feel such a strong pull to the island. I hope when I become a doctor I can move there and give my kids the upbringing I wish I had.

We need more doctors and professionals coming back to the island! If it makes sense for you then go for it! We felt that same pull to come to PR and we love it! Thanks for sharing 🫱🏻‍🫲🏽

Gringos here. 20 years ago, we lived in Mayaguez for a couple years, but moved back stateside to facilitate an adoption. Im retiring early (52 years old) the end of 2024, selling our Texas home and moving to the Humacao area. Not rich by a long shot. Have just enough money to enjoy our last 20 years or so on the island we love. Will live in a typical PR neighborhood, drive a typical PR car, and have a typical PR "Salary" thru our investments stateside. Saddens me about the "Gringo go Home" movement viewing gringos as tax evaders or gentrification. We never complained about Puerto Ricans moving stateside to make more money, and saddened that some puerto ricans feel we shouldnt belong there. Just want to spend our remaining time without driving an hour each way to commute to work, living in a place full of arrogant, selfish, and rude people. We loved PR when we lived there before, and with all our heart hope it hasnt changed so much, that we cant love it again. You have a beautiful family. Hope we can maybe toss a couple lines in the water together sometime. Cheers !

My wife was born and raised in Puerto Rico. She joins the military at 18. I’m a Florida born Gringo. When we got married she always talked about moving back to take care of her parents. When she retired after 17 years in the navy we moved to PR. It was a huge change for me not really speaking Spanish that well. Been 4 years and I have to say. Puerto Ricans are mostly nice and friendly. We live in the South en el campo Villalba it’s nice and quiet. But yea a huge cultural shift.

It’s amazing how you went back to your island with an idea in mind to make things better for you and your family. I congratulate you on having your own business. It’s SO much harder and so much more work when you have your own business as opposed to working hard and long hours for someone else. Yet, much more rewarding. Especially, when you’re doing the right thing. I love that God’s plan is ALWAYS better than mine. Anyone who has faith understands that. I’m a 60 year young woman and loving what you’re doing. Keep up the great work.

Hi Esther, Thank you for your kind words of encouragement. Having your own business comes at a cost, but it does have it its rewards. Like you mentioned, we are working for ourselves and the future of our next generation. Many blessings 😊🙏

I'm a mainland Puerto Rican living in Florida, and I thoroughly enjoyed this video. Regarding the "tax evader" issue, if there is something in place which gringos could benefit from, why can't we Puerto Ricans benefit, too. I think it's just a silly/jealous mentality for people to have. Keep moving forward, doing your thing, benefiting honestly in your business, and connecting with PR. I love it. I also love the design choices in that home project that was featured in this video. Beautiful. I also love that you are a man of faith, standing on godly principles, and going to church. Beautiful.

There no tax evader issue. In fact we pay taxes however less than most states. Please note There also a $10k contribution you have to pay yearly to a Puerto Rico non profit of your choice which is not a requirement in the states and people seem to never mention that & that is what is keeping non profits afloat. In regards to locals there different portions of the tax incentives out there. 2 examples There a young entrepreneur program and not sure if you noticed but there a lot of locals starting businesses. They benefit with the export tax . So like online storefront and even brick & mortar where they sell to folks on the mainland. I encourage locals to get educated & take full advantage of what’s out there.

Moving to Puerto Rico, is like a New Yorker moving to West Virginia, Alabama, or Colorado, except for the language barrier. Puerto Rico is a mini U.S.A. Move to Metropolitan San Juan and you experience the rat race. Moving to the rural area, is like any small town or city in U.S.A. Move to the mountains, in some places, it's like living in the Appalachian Mountains, except for the wild life (no wolves, bears, rattlesnake, etc.). In the mountain you should be able to speak Spanish and with a twange (very nazal); because that's how our hillbillies speak, and you'll easily stand out, if you are not one of them. Most of these mountain folks, originated from the mountain of Spain, when the Spanish government was giving 5 Acres of land to families, to settle this Island (18th and 19th Centuries). But if you only speak English only, learn Spanish, and they will accept you better. And you won't feel lonely among our super happy people. The best of Puerto Rico, is no hate, no racism, no KKK, limited bigotry, very little homelessness and the people are very well educated and friendly.

@foodiesnetwork727 Hi, it can definitely be nerve-wracking moving from Florida to PR (moving in general). We have definitely been in your shoes and know how you feel. We have actually created a consultation service through booksy, where you can ask every question you may have about moving to Puerto Rico, lifestyle, culture, and maybe some real estate and investing if you wish. The hope is that we can help make this move a little easier and a lot more clear in what's to come. Here is our link in case you may be interested. turningkeysscoutingservices.booksy.com. It will also be in our description. We wish you all the best and are excited with you about your move. 😊🤗

I like this video and respect your entrepreneurship. I don't understand why people say "you want to evade taxes"? I think they are jealous, you have a business and yes there are write off but you also have to pay taxes for yourself and employees. I also don't get it when your own kind thinks you're trying to take advantage of the people in Puerto Rico?? You have a contracting business & if you give competitive prices with good work then what's the problem. People have choices so nobody is taking advantage. Again, its jealousy.
