QAD Exodus VS Grim Reaper Pro Series Expandable

I've killed 6 moose and around a dozen elk with the qad exodus, probably the best head available, this year I had 2 exodus and 2 grim reaper pro series 1 3/8" 3 blade heads in my quiver, I ended up killing a bull elk with the grim reaper, I was very impressed, blew through and was hanging out the far side, elk went 40 yards. I might try them on moose next week

Good choice! people underestimate how important an exit hole is, also if something happens and a person hits the shoulder blade first you want a really good penetrating broad head.

yea, I feel the same way. seems like 2 holes is better than one and I know the qad is not going to have any problems with a rib. probably go a long way through a shoulder too

I’ve taken 11 elk over the years with a few different fixed blade heads. I’ve never tried a mechanical on anything except coyotes because they are a great long range target. And because a guy gave me two dozen old Ulmer edge heads in their cartons. With a quality fixed there’s no chance of one shot failure to perform, except your shot placement. Why people take a chance using mechanical heads after doing all the work, all the money, all the traveling,all the etc etc is beyond comprehension.

Both of these are literally my heads of choice. I keep one Exodus, two Grim Reaper Pro Series Whitetail Special, and two field points in my quiver. The exodus flies so good. It is unreal. Also, that Exodus head is the only one I have that can poke out the back side of my Rinehart 18-1 target. But the Grim Reaper is pure trauma. If you have the energy to use the Whitetail Special it puts them down fast.

I have been using OAD exodus for 4 yrs with my Ravin xbow. Last yr it passed /split a small 2” sapling killing the doe I was trying to target. Every exit is a perfect triangle cut with a true field point accuracy .. i personally know Dan Summers CEO of QAD and he told me how & why he developed one of the strongest broad heads on the market..

Would you ask Dan if they'll make a 1.25" or even better a 1.5" exodus swept? They'd sell faster than they could make them.

Good video. I bought some of the Qad exodus 100 gr standard broadheads. Shoot out of my new Wicked Ridge raider 400 decock. First broadhead i shot out of it. Was the fixed blade TOTA 100 gr vent xl broadhead. With a 4 inch cut. It shot very well out of the Wicked Ridge. Pass Wednesday was opening archery bear season. I took my wife hunting. First bear came in was young and small. 2nd bear came in was a monster boar. She shot threw the bear into a metal 55 gallon metal drum. The blood trail was unreal. Pouring out both sides. Going too shoot the Qad Exodus soon.

I shoot reapers for deer but I'd probably take the QAD on elk. Also, you can shoot the Reaper in the open position, if your arrow is long enough.

I think both of those are great broadheads. I got some exodus from a relative as a Christmas gift this last year and haven't tried them hunting yet but they're super sharp and seem well made. Looking forward to killing a deer with them. I've been using grim reapers for awhile now and they're the only mechanical I trust and I've tried several of them.

i would feel good about either one and if I was having trouble with the qad matching up with my field points I was use to the Grim reapers but the Qads shoot almost as good as field points at 60

The Grim Reaper has a larger cut surface. That would be more resistance when going through a target.

No doubt it can confuse the ones who have not hunted as much as a seasoned hunter...who has been there , and done that. Me personally i have hunted since the 70s with a bow. I tried several different broadheads thru the years.as long as i did my part on shot placement and good tracking skills... any good fixed or mechanical will get it done..i dont care if its a one and done broadhead as long as it put the animal down...not gonna be concerned on price... i mean after all dont you put fuel in the tank of your vehicle you drive at least once a week?..unless of course u drive EV.... marketing is killin it...for several hunters who just want to hunt without all the b.s. thats out there...stick to your gut feelings and just get out there and hunt ....

Where in the hell do you guys get a mechanical doesn’t penetrate like a fixed head? Not one time, notta, never have I not had a mechanical ( Rage, Grim Reaper) not penetrate like a fixed head. And here we have another yo-yo comparing penetration in a foam target. Any broadhead will kill deer. I don’t care what it is. No head is a guaranteed kill if you hit bone. Shoot what head you want. These guys posting these videos obviously don’t know anything about penatration.

I shoot those grim reapers, and no deer has ever gotten away from me that I have shot with them. Only two of them have even made it out of my sight. The other eight that I have shot since I switched to Grim Reaper‘s have fallen within 50 yards in my view. As far as broad heads go, I want an American made steel Broadhead that flies like a field point, and makes deer die as quickly as possible and they check all of those boxes. I have taken the quartering away and quartering to shots. I’ve shot them frontally too. As long as Grim Reaper keeps making them in America, I will keep buying them.

People overly put credit on a pass through. A full pass through means absolutely nothing. That Grim Reaper in an elk at half pass will do insanely more damage and trauma than that qad passing through and out. The hunting world has just gotten to far off base and making this stuff so complicated and confusing for most. You’ll kill a deer with a field point if it passing through the lungs.

That’s all well & good so long as your mechanical broad head does not Fail or hit hard bone…! Hard bone will stop a mechanical broad head as well deflect ..👎

I’ll take two med size holes verses one big one. Just one of many things to think about. What about the guys setN up in a tree shooting downward. Ok, the grim reaper shoots a huge hole up top, but if the broadhead doesn’t come out the bottom, that body cavity has to fill with blood to that point to spill out. Your 2in hole gets plugged with gut or cut away tissue, if you don’t get a second hole your grid searching all night. Pass thru’s are worth there weight in gold… We can argue back and forth all day, we’re still going to shoot what we want and only experiences will change our minds… 😉👍
