Qantas 787 Business Class QF2 - a domestic international flight from Darwin to Sydney!

In January, I managed to secure a seat on the Darwin to Sydney leg of Qantas flight QF2, as the flight was originated in London and everyone that travels to Sydney would clear immigration in Sydney, QF2 from Darwin departs from the international terminal. Therefore flying on this flight gives me the unique opportunity of going through Australian immigration and board an international flight without needing a passport and without leaving the country!
What's more, 30 hours before this flight, I offered a $300 bid for an upgrade from economy class to business class. My seat was confirmed 4hrs before departure! So in this video I will provide a detailed review of Qantas Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner's Business Class product, Darwin Qantas Club and Darwin Qantas International Transit Lounge. Let's go!!
Flight QF1/QF2 is Qantas' flagship flight between Sydney and London. From March 2018 to early 2020, Qantas used its flagship aircraft A380 to operate this flight with only one stopover in Singapore. However, due to covid and international border restrictions. The service was hauled for nearly 2 years. When all Australian States and Territories except Western Australia scrapped hotel quarantine in December 2021, Qantas chose Darwin over Perth as the temporary stopover point for its Sydney to London and Melbourne to London flights.

This is probably my favourite flight review I've seen from you, mainly because I like the Boeing 787, and that the route you travelled on, the food on the plane, the friendly staff, and the key features seen in the business class seat! You've covered this very well! I hope to see more!

The king has returned! And this was well worth the wait! This was actually much better than what I was expecting, the food looked good and for a domestic product it would be outstanding but I'm not so sure if I could say the same about international, but still a great meal. I did really like though the crew, they seemed so nice and friendly. I've always had that with QF cabin crews. Anyway great video Rory and can't wait for your future videos!

Great detailed video of your flight Rory. Wish we had have flown that aircraft to Darwin when we flew last month out of Canberra instead of the Alliance Embraer we had which was much smaller and didn't have entertainment screens. Can't wait to be flying the Qantas B787 in a couple of weeks when we fly Business class to LA :-).

Nice to see you could get a seat because after six weeks of waiting hours for the phone to be answered on numerous calls to customer service and being told it would be fixed but wasn't and the promised callbacks not coming either we still do not have tickets or conformation for our flights to LAX in two weeks time using our Qantas pass. Here is a good one, the customer service operator in FIJI says her changes that will fix it will be sent to the ticketing office in NEW ZEALAND but it will take FIVE DAYS. QANTAS THE NATIONAL CARRIER? A TOTAL MYTH!!

Thanks for the review Rory. I can't imagine flying 16 and a half hours in cattle class to Darwin from London non-stop. I think deep vein thrombosis would be a real risk for passengers. Business class only for me I'm afraid. Darwin to Sydney is a long flight within Australia like Brisbane to Perth. Glad you could lie flat.

Looks like you had a good flight with Qantas. That airline's biggest problem is inconsistency with service quality. I've had good flights, and woeful flights with our national airline. Been like that for the last 15 of the past 35 years I've flown with them. Over the last decade I've tried to avoid Qantas. The UAE carriers offer a far better service to Europe. Who's best for AUS-USA? Probably Air NZ if you're not in a rush.
