These ads give me mixed feelings. In Jan 22. Qantas has effectively grounded nearly all of its fleet, Jetstar is doing most of their flights so at 6 ft I cannot sit comfortably being squashed in so tight.These magical timeless ads stopped with the current management. On the other side I used to be one of those Australians who always flew Qantas overseas. I was always proud to fly them & just loved these ads . I wonder what happened to the lead singer . She must be around 30 now. The Ad with these kids on a beach running to a beach shower was one of the best ads I ever saw.

Believe it was because, at the time, Qantas had cancelled their route to Rio and, for the campaign, they wanted it to market the routes with which they had connections, Rome is one of them.

Yes, but when they were using it for advertising, they would have had to make sure the locations mentioned in the song were offered. As Rio was no longer offered at the time, they had to change it to Rome, and so used the Australian Youth Choir and the Australian Girls Choir (I know because while I was with the Girls Choir, I always hoped to be part of the campaign) to sing it.

Such a shame that Qantas has bent over for an arse reeming of political correctness. It's also sad to see that during the pandemic the displayed a piss poor Australian attitude and left thousands of stranded Aussies abroad. I would expect a lot more from an airline started by veterans from Queensland. The fly kangaroo I'm my opinion both from working for them and previous experience with them is that they are no longer the Australian Airline they don't deserve that title any more. They fucked up
