Also, that business class Qantas is offering sounds a lot like premium economy today, which isn't an arm and a leg more. First class has been getting phased out and business has just been taking its place. It's kind of weird how not much has changed, other than names.

I flew the 777 qsuite from MEL to DOH and had like 5 of those pineapple mocktails, they're DELICIOUS. The seat was easily the best business class seat i've ever flown, was a treat to fly for 14 hours. The a la carte dining is amazing not having to have set meal times. The meal options on that flight I had a steak which was the best steak on a flight ever, I really hope you get to try a longer flight with qatar. I used velocity points so was fantastic value. Great video! I really enjoyed the history in this one, didn't know the seat wasn't designed by Qatar. Also agree with the bed mode, it needs a mattress pad to make it more comfortable.

Great review including all the extra information. Q Suite looks good and very spacious width wise. Glad to see my favourite apex suite got a mention in your dodgy graph 🤣🤣. Last few months did JAL Sydney to London return in the apex suite which was great as I had the window seat with the door/partition which is very private too!

I'm flying QSuites next year with a 3 year old, and selected those two backwards-facing seats that sit adjacent in the middle, half of a family unit. Flying BNE-DOH. Hopefully he doesn't keep the whole biz cabin up. Fingers crossed they don't switch up the plane last minute

Good review as always Simon … very keen to try Qsuites on a longer flight. Technically I flew it when Qatar was operating Auckland to Adelaide but I don’t think a four hour flight really counts. 😝 Out of interest, how was the boarding process in Doha? I’ve read quite a few reviews suggesting it can be a bit chaotic/disorganised, including for premium passengers. 🤔 Appreciate that comparison on seats per fuselage metre! ✅🤣

In the last few months I’ve flown a bunch of times with Qatar, on their A350 Qsuite as well as A350 and 787-9 non Qsuite and legacy 777 2-2-2 business. The Qsuite is night and day compared to the others, particularly the 2-2-2 which doesn’t even really give you a flat bed (although no foot-cubby is nice). I’ve never flown 1st so can’t compare to that, but the Qsuite experience is the best business seat I’ve flown bar none.

Your videos made me realize no one airline has the best of best biz class without any drawback. It's a matter of choice, service over comfort, comfort over service, either over IFE etc. I thought Qatar is best, but lack of padding for lie-down is a deal-breaker for me. I need comfort for good sleep, and i travel biz so that i can sleep on planes.😢 Btw, talking about fleets, its very similar with SQ. But SQ is managed very well. You get the right aircraft as promised most of the time, something QR just somehow can't keep up with. Same with their ground staff. They actually tried learning from SQ but just can't get to that same standard. Pretty interesting as when QR first established, they took in a whole lot of ex-SQ staff to emulate SQ and be a strong competitor. Fun fact. Hence why many of their service standards are uncannily SQ.

Whether it's QSuite or the reverse herringbone on the Qatar A380 (and the awesome onboard bar), there just isn't a better business class product on any other airline in my opinion. Everything feels more premium on Qatar. The food, the service, the cutlery and plates, the lounge at Doha, and my favourite thing, dine on demand. Qatar for the win every time.
