As a Pakistani, one of the countries from which migrant workers go to qatar for minimum wage i agree that qatari authorities exploited our workers, however by reading all these comments prodominantly from western people i see a very hypocritical stance as well. Same people doesn't seem to give a sh!t about these migrant workers when their countries bully these poor nations by interfering in our politics, assassinating our leaders or straight up bombing innocent people and if you resist against this tyranny you are labeled as uncivilized. Yes Qatari authorities did disgusting things but compared to what your so called civilized countries do to our countries is monsterous. You are outraged about this thing because your media told you so, not because you genuinely started caring about poor migrants workers just recently for the world cup. Go and ask these workers why they do what they do for 300$ a month and they'll tell you why, because of the lack of opportunities in their motherlands many of the times caused by indirect interference from the same civilized countries through sanctions, regime change, ban, assassinations and monopolies.

Drew, I respect that you try to let the negative side of so many things untold to convey that every place has its upsides but you cannot keep this up forever. You can't have this big of an outreach and yet ignore the facts that show just how bad people are getting treated by governments. You play right into their cards and by doing nothing to address it, you inactively support the picture they are trying to paint. Please think about how you can change your approach while still being positive and not harming your reputation/business. There has to be a better way than staying silent. 🖤

Despite traveling a ton (obviously), Drew's political naiveté remains, as he happily whitewashes Qatar for his KZbin audience. I have no doubt that Qatar is very safe for rich expats who would move there or visit as tourists, but it's incredibly unsafe for the migrant workers who are horrifically exploited there. This isn't just a rumor that originated from the internet - it's been documented by countless human rights NGOs and journalists, who have filmed the deplorable conditions they live and work in. Genuinely "the capital and glorious city of Qatar" screams "they paid me a bunch of money to promote their country ahead of the World Cup and I want to make them happy" Also had to lol for "so cool and cultural," for someone who has had to narrate countless fascinating areas the vocabulary to describe them or articulate what's interesting about them is really limited (this is pretty noticeable in a lot of videos). I really appreciate how Drew emphasized how friendly and welcoming Muslim and Middle Eastern people are and I think his channel has done a lot of good for that (especially Afghanistan). On the other hand, while underlining how wonderful many of these people are, I don't think it's good to whitewash the serious problems countries like Qatar have. I think this should also be done for western countries like the US and European countries where it's relevant - we can appreciate while also acknowledging the real problems.

The call to prayer is called "Adan" and it starts by ( Allah akbar ) which means in arabic " God is great " , it also has to be known that Muslims worship one unique God (Allah), the same God that christians worship, the God of Abraham, the God who sent Jesus. you can hear different styles of Adan by checking on KZbin

Israeli * terrorists are free to do whatever they want, they kill innocent kids, women and men in Palestine, they slaughter journalists like shirin abu akleh and they never apologize for it, israel won't let anyone criticize them , they call Hamas terrorist when they're actually defending their country, they're not attacking anyone. I very rarely comment on videos and usually enjoy yours, Drew. But honestly this video's timing is so off. I don't have anything against Qatar or the Qatari people (I'm sure it's a beautiful country with amazing people that have nothing to do with the horrible authoritarian government of their country). But for you to post this video during the World Cup for which thousands of people died building the stadiums you are showing off in a positive light here is just unbelievable. And to portray it as such a wonderful and save country is just disturbing and disrespectful to every single person who has died or suffered under the kafala system in this country. You mention multiple times in the video that there are so many non-Qataris living in the country and to not explain the sad truth behind that is just hiding the reality of 90% of the people living in Qatar. At the same time to say the country is safe while there are gay people being put into prisons (many gay Qataris are leaving their homes seeking asylum in other countries), and women getting oppressed is beyond detached from reality. Especially because you mentioned the World Cup I would've thought you'd at least say one word about the conditions of the migrant workers there or the fact that Qatar is an authoritarian country that restricts the life of many marginalized groups. I'm actually very disappointed because I normally very enjoy your videos.. There is so much more I could say about it but if you want to see the reality behind the World Cup in Qatar feel free to watch John Olivers video on the topic.

Yea, the device you are typing on, the clothes, shoes you have on, most likely were produced in some sweat shop in South East Asia, the materials for the battery were dug out by children in some mine in the Congo, and all kinds of other stuff you are using daily and may or may not be aware of under what conditions they are produced. And if you are living in Western Europe or North America, congratulations, you are enjoying the fruits of at least 200 years of exploitation of several continents, from South America, Africa and Asia, and the sweat and blood of Blacks, Chinese, Natives... so you can sit back and point the finger to a tiny country that in comparison to the above would not be able to cause a fraction of the harm and feel all good about yourself. Yes, it is disgusting and inhumane how some of the work force on the lower end is treated in these countries. Nobody forces them to come to Qatar though, except for the cut-throat capitalism and the aftermath of colonialism and post colonial structures by the West and the corrupt puppet regimes that has left the people of these countries impoverished, which makes them choose to go to the Gulf states where they still can make 3 times more money than back in India or Indonesia... Like with a lot of big corporations, they delegate their work to other companies and they again get subcontractors who do the dirty job, thus it becomes difficult to hold them accountable. Even though a lot of people might know, everyone is conveniently looking away... business deals, cash and careers are on the plate.
