Some people think they're obsolete. Just like a lot of other stuff I like.

I've had a Tech Force TF78 Gold Series (QB78 Deluxe, same gun, same factory, different brand name.) for around 15 years. Still shoots as good as the day I bought it. I didnt care for the gold or the fiber optics either, but they didn't have the standard model available in .22, and i wanted the extra stopping power against varmint.. I popped the fiber optics off of it and fitted it with a scope. Great air rifle.

Wow thanks for the history on this gun as well. I just bought a beeman qb78 deluxe in 177. Very impressed with the build quality for the price of around $110. The fiberoptic sights are not great for accurate work, people need to learn that fiberoptics aren't for target shooting!

I enjoy the air rifle videos. I have a beautiful 1966, 180 that I completely refurbished, and a Crosman 400 repeater with 10 round magazine both great rifles. Super fun! I also have a '65 Crosman 140, a '73 and '78 1400. I have been tempted with the QB78. I'm not sure what forum you were talking about, but there is a great forum called "Gateway to Airguns" that I'm a member of. I mostly spend time in the "Vintage Airgun gate". I enjoy refurbishing the classic "wood and steel" as you said, air rifles. They're amazing, 50, 60, and 70 year old air rifles that can be made to function and look as new, with a good amount of power. When refurbished they're good for another 50 years of service. This is when we built things in America to last and took pride in them.

I agree, GTA is a great forum. I like the vintage guns too, especially Benjamin pumpers but Crosmans too.

I bought a QB-78 in .22 caliber off Amazon for around 100 bucks. The quality and fit and finish are good. I did the Archer Airguns upgrades. This increased the power by about 50% but decreased the shot count. I really like it. It’s one of my favorite air rifles.

I just did it over the weekend. Went from 470s in FPS getting 45-50 shots. To a whopping high of 615-622 with the Excite flat heads. Shot count is now 25 ish maybe a few more usable shots.

The main drawback to CO2 is that it is a temp dependent gas. And anything under 60*f and you can not hit squat from a foot away. It needs to be used at at least 70*+ for it to be of any use.

Yeah, cold weather does make co2 guns not work so well. Then it's time to break out the pumpers!

Nice video, good information on the older Crosman's. I have one, Beeman QB 78S in . 177 caliber from about 3 years ago but haven't shot but one 2 CO2 load with a. Fun gun to shoot. I have the synthetic stock version and I added a green dot light sight on it. I basically put 2 CO2 cartridges in it one time and got the green dot sight sighted in and once they ran out of CO2 I cleaned the rifle and put in back in the case and haven't shot it since. However after watching your video I took it out and wiped it down and put 2 CO2 cartridges in it but didn't pierce them and just looking at the rifle and getting familiar with it again for a little bit. I have about 25 air and CO2 Rifles and about 30 CO2 Pistols so I may start to do some shooting in the spring this year. I have bought 5 Vintage Crosman 357 6's since December of last year and put new barrel latch assembly wedges in them and new CO2 cartridge seals in 3 of them and cleaned them all up and bought Holsters for 3 of them so far. Need 2 more and I want to buy the larger revolver case's for them too.

Sounds like a nice collection of air guns. I have one of those revolvers, too.
