Looks good. If you would have left the material on the parent stock it would have made it much easier to turn your tapers and turn the material down to size in one setup. Then you could have cut it off, faced, drilled and tapped in another. Try not to hold round stock by hand when cutting on the band saw. If the blade grabs it will spin the material in your hands possibly hurting you. Put it in a small vise or use a C clamp to hold it. Jimmy Diresta has a short on this. ( I hate safety Nazis too but just concerned) Soda/pop/coke cans (depending on different parts of the country) or your preferred libation make great shim material to keep the jaws from marring the finished surface of your work without throwing it out of concentricity.

Order of operations is something I'm continuing to learn and improve upon. I have started figuring out to not part off my pieces right away so I ahve something to chuck up. There really is a lot to think about to make the turning expereience better with a better outcome. As for safety. Its never a bad thing to point out mistakes and proper ways to work wtih materials. I ahve been realizing that the need to using a vise or clamp to control round stock in the bandsaw is very important. I dont want to get injured and this is a great reminder for me and everyone else. Thank you for the reminder on safety. I do need to cut out some shiums from cans to have on hand for quick use to keep softer materials from marring up.

@@deezworkshop I am glad you're one of the few people who take constructive criticism for what it is and don't get upset about it. Reading my comment back it sounds kinda harsh and it was not meant to be. It was meant to be suggestions to help you out.

Its wasy when your making a comment, I already know you are coming from a good point of view. But appreciate it. I learned not long after I started this channel many people have opinions. It is easy to take offense to them. I told myself thats not how im going to approach the comments and feedback. I decided that I will listen to the experienced folks positive as well as criticisms to improve my skills and learn as much as I can. The collective knowledge of this community is not something to waste. So for that I thank you and all the others who have helped me get to this point and continue to help me progress with skillsets as well as saftey. Cheers

I need to get some 4140 and try my hand at heat treating. I think all the metals ive hot blued or tried to harden have failed due to low or no carbon. This is something I still need to learn more about.

@@deezworkshop I can help you with heat treatment of small parts, I have a small kiln that my late wife used for jewelry making.

Sorry to hear about your wife. I appreciate the offer. I will keep this in mind and reach out as I come up with new projects. If/When I start making Tools, well functional tools, I will need to get them heat treated. I still need to learn the right materials to use before i even start. I am getting there though. Need to source some good carbon steel if I am going to make something that will need hardened. Appreciate the offer.
