You should always (if possible) have the slip fix fully extended. Especially if it is installed on a mainline. You don’t want constant movement on the repair coupling.

I got this telescoping repair fitting on one zone that has maybe 4-5 sprinkler heads only, I didn’t extend fully only because there wasn’t enough room and I didn’t want to dig even more, am I okay with it? It’s just one zone, 1/2 pvc and only has about 4-5 sprinklers in that one zone.

And I wouldn't have it on a main line coming into a valve because you will have a (slamming effect)...

Nice video! I’m looking for a longer coupling to repair 5/8” poly tube (like 5 or 6”). I find it odd that I can’t seem to find anything like that. I’m forced to use 2 short couplings with a very short piece of poly tube instead. Maybe the product manufacturers like to sell more couplings by not having a coupling that’s like an inch or 2 longer than the standard ones?

I am trying to repair ½ :" PVC. The pipe in the ground is not EXACTLY straight with the hose bib. Close but not exactly. Will the coupling still provide 100 % leak proof? even with lots of primer and cement?

If the pipe is not straight it would be best to use the 4 90s method

Does it matter what direction the water flow is coming from?

YES but I can’t find any info on this

@Ryan_ Stovall_ if you open it up and look inside. You can tell what way the water should flow. You don't want it crashing into the slip fix. It should be stright through like a unbroken pipe.

@buscador2007 yes it does. Fully extended the slip fix amd look through, you can naturally tell what way the water should flow. One side has no resistance.

@@buscador2007 and I work on a golf course and have installed 100s of them under 200psi.

@buscador2007 again, if you have installed lots of them, the next time you install one look through it fully extended. One side the water will not crash againt the slid.

How long this Telescopic Repair Coupling last without leaking? I am a professional plumber and don't recommend this quick repair for underground water line.

I just had one fail after about 4 years. Going to try 2" pvc repair couplings with a cut to fit section of 2" pipe. Or I may just use 90s and add a shutoff valve.

I agree. I do not use it for example to fix something under pavers. They will leak at some point because it has a rubber gasket and it's just a matter of time. Using 90s is better
