When Gerwyn is on form and not being a wind up artist, the guy is a MONSTER. His scoring power is top 3 in the game... it's kind of a toss up between Price, MvG, and Smith. They can just throw so heavy.

I love Ross Smith.. only thing holding those two back is they go off the bill too often, in my opinion. That's just the nerves and inexperience with the stage... as they become more comfortable, they will for sure push those three.

I don't think Gerwyn is a wind-up merchant, he gets it a smidgen wrong at times, but it's blown SO FAR out of all proportion. He flexes, shouts 'come on' and sometimes looks at the crowd as he does it. If people these days weren't so touchy about everything it really wouldn't matter, it really wouldn't. Then, these days people celebrate Andrew Tate being sent to prison because he said men should be 'more confident', and the police arrest people for sharing tweets saying something slightly negative about men using women's toilets. Gerwyn Price in the 1980s would have been a hero, when men were real men and real women liked them for it. If toxic masculinity really troubles darts fans so much, there is always flower arranging.

@Chris Trickett Tate is potentially going to jail for trafficking women, not saying men should be confident. I have no problem with Price celebrating a win, a 180, a big out, whatever. But to say he doesn't go over the top sometimes is just not true. I've seen him intentionally provoke the crowd, and then complain IF HE LOSES that he doesn't understand why the crowd gets on him. He's not the devil he's made out to be sometimes... sports love a villain to hate, but he's no saint, either.

Not sure why we are having this tournament in Bahrain ? Its such a great chance to actually have it in places where the sport is actually rather big but needs a push. Could have it in Brasil, The Philipines or South Africa... guess you get better crowds then here.

@@christrickett3291 For sure it's a ironic, he's one of the best at the moment. Also, I think Humphries improvement requires a thorough analysis of that game because he was 5-1 and it finished 5-6 for Barney.

Tough call, but Humphries feels a bit like Michael Smith a few years ago. Monster on the board, but would just bottle it at the end - completely fall apart and hl give the game away. I think it's just an anticipation thing... he's so close, so he starts pressing a bit, then because he's playing tight his aim goes off, he starts pressing harder, and before you know it he's given up a solid win. Barney was the opposite.. you can see how he stays steady, and when things start going his way, he increases the pressure on his opponent. That's the extra gear that world champions seem to have, where they settle in and can start applying that anaconda strangle with relentless scoring and then hitting the finish.
