TRIP REPORT | Virgin America - A320 - San Francisco (SFO) to New York (JFK) | Economy

Welcome to another trip report!
Last month, I flew Virgin America economy from Las Vegas to New York, through San Francisco. Here is the second trip report for that trip.
I have to say right off the bat that Virgin America is probably at its most confusing time as an airline right now. I think this because their service isn't really guaranteed. The card swipers on the IFEs don't work and there is no snack or food service for economy at all.
I'm not saying that I hate Virgin America, but I dislike the route Alaska Airlines is taking them.

maybe but not nearly as good as Jetblue, I flew to LAX from JFK a little while ago, took Jetblue on the outbound and Virgin America on the return..Jetblue was the winner by far: better service more professional better snacks way better IFE and overall more classy

I miss Virgin America. They were my family’s airline of choice whenever we traveled (especially since we lived pretty close to SFO and didn’t like flying on the “hub” airline United after trying them out) and I can dream about what their product would have looked like today, all refreshed with larger IFEs, newer seats, newer livery etc. and how they’d be dealing with the COVID-19 situation. Unfortunately, SFO seems to have gotten hit the hardest from this merger compared to anywhere in the country, since it was VX’s main base. The skies at SFO seemed to have gotten a whole lot grayer :(

Great video q man! Loved the new intro!!!👍👍👍👍👍👍 10/10! Also, nice to see the blended wingtips. Virgin doesn’t fly as many with the wingtips as say spirit or frontier. But, I guess it’s Alaska now so I can stop calling it virgin. But it was a great airline!

Thanks a lot! Yeah it’s pretty rare to see blended wingtips on an A320-200. I’m gonna stop calling it Virgin very soon also. Alaska is a good airline though!

hi Qman. wow that intro was awesome! gotta give you a 10 for this whole vid. couple of ideas for the future. you ever trip or run into a wall or anything that might make a fun "bloopers" vid? the other idea is about ever doing a live stream, either before, during, or after landing? not even sure its possible, just a thought from my wacky brain. as always, thanks for taking me along on your journey. great job!

You have definitely evolved with the large scale video productions. Up there with the evolution of BrightSunFilms and other younger YT’ers. The first three minutes are packed with action and synched with the music perfectly. And nice use of jazz as the sun is rising.

Yeah, that 3 minute passage of action at the beginning synched with the music isn't easy to master with all hundreds of short clips. Need good software and hardware, of which should be mastered. Smooth jazz just fits well with flying a nighttime transcon.

Its kinda weird since airlines use there widebodies on domestic routes from a hub to a hub because delta uses there 767 to get from jfk to lax and American airlines uses there 787 to get from lax to dfw but sfo is not a hub for American airlines so its kinda weird they use the a330s to get from sfo to phl

Thanks a lot! Yeah Night videos don’t look as good as daytime sadly. I don’t think the lighting has a calming affect, but the sunrise time lapse that I had in the middle of the video was pretty relaxing in my opinion. :)

Was there a last minute seat assignment change? Your mobile boarding pass displays "3D" but you end up sitting at 6F--When I saw 3D,I hoped you would be sitting in First Class! Because you flew a red-eye to JFK,there was nothing to look at inflight.Arriving at JFK around 8am,you must've been sleepwalking through the terminal,doesn't look like you got any rest! Good catch of the BA aircraft at JFK--I believe that is their flight to LCY nonstop--flying east back to JFK from LCY,the Airbus makes a stop in Shannon Ireland to refuel and allow US Customs clearance--Know anything about that "Frenchbee" aircraft at SFO?

Yeah they were operated by Alaska now but this flight represented a lot of Virgin so i felt it was right to keep it that name (for now at least)
