It's amazing how this is still the best tutorial on this topic 8 years later!

Nice, I'm currently struggling with a few labels and this might do the trick. Thanks for keeping the video so short

This is a top-notch, so-very-helpful video! I am glad you made it, sir. (It goes too fast, but by stopping and starting it, I was able to follow the steps successfully.)

+Greg P Glad you liked it! My videos are intentionally fast, so you can get an idea about the subject quickly. If you find something useful you can play it again and, like you did, pause it or replay as many times as you like. I think this is better than the opposite with long videos that you fast forward, and maybe miss something.

Thanks, much appreciated! However, how do you move the text and retain its curvature? I created an x, y and rotation field in the attribute table then moved the text. Once I did that, the text became horizontal and lost its curvature. I went into the attribute table and rotated the text just fine, but the text is no longer curved. Thoughts? Cheers!

Thank you so much! where did you learned those things?
Hi Klas, what a fantiastic tutorial! I have a question though. I use QGIS 3.26 (Buenos Aires), and I can't find the "Edit Widget" field in the layer properties. Do you know what's wrong (or maybe different) with the QGIS version that I'm using? How could I activate the field like what you did in the video? Thanks.

This function has grown and is now a "tab" of its own in the layer properties called "Attributes Form". Select the "Drag and Drop Designer" and try it out. (docs.qgis.org/3.22/en/docs/user_manual/working_with_vector/vector_properties.html#id121)

what a great tutorial Klas! I've found it really interesting. But I wonder why the layer properties on my label doesn't have the "edit widget" column as you are?
@KlasKarlsson3 жыл бұрын
In QGIS 3.x it has an entire page of its own called "Attributes Form"... It works about the same, but looks completely different.

Great video! But why do the labels disappear, once I move out, and how can I fix that?
@KlasKarlsson6 жыл бұрын
Not sure exactly what you mean, but I'll give it a try. Vector labels have placement rules, and if by panning the map the rules to place a label is not fulfilled it will be hidden. This will for instance happen when the visible part of a line near the boundary of the screen becomes to short for the letters to show. To fix this it would be necessary to have a "place over boundary" option in QGIS.

If I pan the image labels disappear. Mind explaining how "place over boundary"
