It's Hard Work, most young people are not willing to do this kind of work. It's Honest Work and those working in this field should be very proud of that.
I have worked in the F&B industry. It's really physically demanding job with long hours. Very very tiring after a day's work. We should really appreciate their hard work

Usually those grads who eventually become hawkers come from families that already run the hawker business. I’m sure they count the cost carefully when charting this out as their career. They need to have the same passion and willingness to toil over a hot stove for long hours to continue with the family food business or else it’s a matter of time they call it quits as, after all, being more educated than their parents, they do have more career choices to sustain their livelihoods.

However, it is less than 10% for such cases. Most of the younger generation won't want to take over as a hawker
I respect that girl. Wish to visit her stall someday.

I have no problem with hawkers raising prices.. it pains my heart to see one's reward doesn't match one's effort. Hawkers have been underpaid.
@tanalson4 жыл бұрын
It's more realistic to reduce the rental. Even for a small stall, the rental is killing it. If a bowl of noodles is sold $12 in a hawker, then I might as well eat in a restaurant. Restaurant has air con to enjoy and a service staff to serve you

As long as she likes what she is doing. Her education can be used as a backup. Whether she has an overseas education or not, what occupation she chooses, it's part and parcel of life choices. Not everything has to be compared in dollars. The local culture of comparison is toxic and most importantly it's her life and none of the judgemental folks' business.

Do something you are passionate about, something you love. In fact, it's even better than that.
Our sg gov and sgcitizens need to support sghawkers is a big huge step. It is a hard job and service to sg singapore. We cannot instigate and control too much about how hawkers run. So long hours and divideds is not guaranteed. Ownership rental taxes curbs and restrictions all scrutinised heavily fair play. If there is a need for continuity and sustainable role in tgis trade. It is abit too late but now under unesco recognition. Sg gov needs to ease and help sg hawker freedom and relaxation of heavy rentals and taxes for growth here to be normal as before. Otherwise this will die off a d one day no more hawker centre and food courr culture in singapore anymore.
Exactly right, many Singaporean nowadays hardly score the requirements for subject courses, so juz to study for the name of university ,and not their ideal courses,,,,,,
@jasmainehum33353 жыл бұрын
Our ministers ever mentioned that our Singapore lack of talent so guy's don't waste your university certificate from oversea, go to apply MOE and get a job there to teach the MOE how to teach and transform a greater system for the nation to improve
Everyone's life circumstances is different & it'd be quite presumptuous of us to judge others based on our own worldview. The world would be a better place if we could just appreciate good & hardworking people for what they do rather than being unnecessarily judgemental.

@rkmn884 жыл бұрын
@@mobyservices5080 its really sad that a lot of hawkers are closing bc its not as prestigious or money making type of professions. I think SG should implement some hawker classes where students get to learn how to cook and the entrepreneurial spirit that these hawkers vendors possess to strike out a means of living in SG. Singapore is really known as food paradise esp for its diaspora of different ethnicities food. To see these skills go away its really disheartening. Plus itll be a good tool for young students to keep if they get burned out from working in corporate, as ive seen countless times.
