The brakes are one of the most important components to a race car - both in terms of safety and performance. That being said, it can still do wonders on a vehicle such as the Subaru XV Crosstrek. We test out the capabilities of the Endless MX72 Plus brake pads on a demanding downhill touge course, with an average slope of -9.5%. If they can hold up on this mountain pass road, it’s beyond what most street compounds can handle. Just make sure you have a budget for something like this…

One of the reasons why I bought the crosstrek over an Impreza was the bigger brakes (along with the 2.5L engine, which helps a ton with engine braking)

getting inspiration here AND not loosing my license... thankfully my car isn't in driving condition right now, so i have a chance of keeping my license. Still wish i could just drive off into the endless mountain roads

Keeping your license is very important but a working car is good too! Best of luck to having both

Hey, bro. please make a video on comparing better tires or better pads will improve on braking performance for stock car (Nissan G35). basically I was looking for a budget way to improve braking performance, mainly want better stopping distance around town, no track work where pad temperature is the main factor. I was wondering which one to upgrade first, to gain better stopping distance on street. Thx. Love ur video!!!

Quick answer - Any pad should be able to lock the tires up and exceed their grip so tires for sure.

Volvo Brad has the right answer. If heat soaking isn't an issue, then the tires will make the biggest difference in your stopping distance. Most brake upgrades for commuting driving wouldn't be budget-oriented at all, so if your ABS is kicking in then get stickier tires. Appreciate your support and I always try to do viewer suggestions for videos! But city driving isn't my expertise so I won't be doing a video on that =( Let me know if you need something else and I'll try to clarify the best I can.

THXVolvo Brad, And Ridge. Now I get it. Ye, I have pirelli P1 245 tire on my G35, (stock is 225).I still found my ABS needs to kick in A lot. I probably need even wider tire then. not better pad in this case. THX again

Too old now, but I was doing this back in the late 70s with junk cars by today's standards. Instead of the boring light-to-light drags (boring, cops, no real skills) - some of us started "Chases" - never even knew it was this...

I've heard stories of that! Awesome to see an original driver from the 70's watching this stuff

If you are glowing rotors would that not be more of a wakeup call that you should invest in bigger/better rotors and maybe a way to keep them cooler? If stock pads are glowing rotors then you will still be glowing rotors with upgraded pads, they will just handle the heat better.

Yes I did consider that. I think for the Golf's case, one of my brake calipers are seized so I'll have to do a rebuild pretty soon.

What’s the material of mx72? Semi metallic? Or carbon ceramic?
@AWDfreak
@AWDfreak 5 жыл бұрын
No way these are carbon ceramic metallic matrix pads, those pads cost upwards of $20,000. According to the English Endless websites, they are semi-metallic with some ceramic content.

Without going to an actual track you’ll never sustain enough heat in them to cause brake fade.
@RidgeChaser
@RidgeChaser 3 жыл бұрын
Testing road vs track is not a major factor when determining when brakes will fade, unless you are counting elevation changes. It is based on how much you are pushing the brakes at the limit. I understand that *most* drivers will not experience this on the road because they are not constantly threshold braking. But many drivers including myself experience brake fade on a regular basis.
