The Qidi X-Max3 is a fast core XY printer that can compete, and possibly surpass, the Bambu Labs X1 and P1P series. In this video I look over the Xmax3’s features (including the addition of Klipper firmware), as well as some of the drawbacks (like the low included internal memory). Are you looking for a large build volume printer, that can produce fast prints, print at a high temperature, and includes active chamber heat? If so this new 3d printer from Qidi might be fit for you.

Aaron thank you so much, it's not easy! I tend to be very wordy so I write down as much of a script (or talking points) as I can and then try and streamline it. I have a Google document with something like 7,000 words on it right now 😂 I don't want anyone wasting money, so when I review anything I like to get as much time as possible with the product. Thanks for watching and for the confidence boost !

Richard thanks a lot! I try and give these reviews a more 'how I've been using it feel' and less a definitive this print is good or bad feel. These printers are all good nowadays and a lot of the important points are how they fit for you and how you can assimilate them into your normal 3d printing workflow, or create your workflow if you're new to printing. Thanks for watching and I appreciate the comment !!

This is extremely helpful. I've been looking for a printer for a while. All of my ideas are rather large, and the print space of this monster is really nice. The other great part of the machine is that it has an enclosure, and I can possibly print a new exhaust vent to except a dryer hose to vent outside. As far G codes go, coding hasn't ever been an issue with me and I love the idea that it isn't Black and White. The freedom to change it to my needs is a great thing that others should invest in even if they don't have the understanding. There's plenty of people out there that are willing to teach you, just ask.

This printer has a ton of great qualities and if you decide to purchase it I hope it works as well for you as it has for me! The build volume and the Klipper firmware offer a ton of freedom to print what you want how you want to. As for venting I would recommend looking into some form of added filtration . There is a small carbon filter bag that Qidi offers, a long with a vent fan, but it's hard to tell the efficacy. Looking for greater forms of filtration is always a smart option. Good luck and if you need help let me know!

It’s always a nice treat when Mr. Leo posts a new informative video 😊. Mr. Leo, how did you get the singer from Big Wet to wear the Mandalorian helmet? Also does size matter when using a hard nozzle vs a soft nozzle?

Well Patrick big wet and I are very very close friends lol no that's not big wet, it's actually a cowboy friend of mine. As for the nozzles, it all depends on the application , I would say make sure to 'preheat' before you attempt any extruding . Thanks again!

Great review and thanks for raising those points. I did not know that my prints would be detoured through Bambu labs. Not sure what use it would be to control my printer remotely, I do use a shared printer but always have to visit it to remove a print and cleanup for the next one in the queue. I watch remotely but that’s me being impatient. I appreciate your flow rate tests, it’s a step I never do but then I don’t print with Klipper so likely don’t need to know the maximum. I will be trying a flow test, there must be a reason some filaments print worse than others.
@PrintsLeo3D
@PrintsLeo3D 7 ай бұрын
Thanks ! Using the printer remotely has been invaluable for me. Usually the use case for me is that I get home from my normal 9-5 job, remove a print, and then start a new one. When I get up in the morning I'll remove an overnight print but I usually won't have time to slice (or even think lol) a new print to start. So I can leave the house and then access it from work or during some down time time and start a print, it check in on a print that I did get a chance to start. This way if something is going bad with the print I can cancel it while I'm away, and the printer doesn't get messed up or continue to chew through filament for no reason. Flow calibration can be useful for any printer, to make sure you aren't moving the print head faster than it can melt filament. Certainly a worthwhile calibration to look at! Thanks again !

Really good review, and interesting to see the upgrades Qidi have made over the past few years. I've been using the original X-Max I bought in 2019, and it's been a solid performer, but I am considering whether the upgrades to Klipper (monitoring, Octoprint, camera capability, etc) would be worth diving into. Can't say I like the back-mounted spool, but that would be fairly easy to re-locate. I think my biggest interest is getting something with a higher speed though. Right now, a standard 0.2mm layer Benchy takes about an hour to put out, and the majority of my prints are 0.1mm layers. I tend to fight a lot against ringing, since I'm printing lots of parts with small details that leave ripples in the model around them. The large prints you did look like they're almost completely free of those sorts of artifacts.
@PrintsLeo3D
@PrintsLeo3D 7 ай бұрын
Qidi actual has a printable spool mount to move the spool from the rear to the side, but with the runout sensor in the back there's a little more that needs adapting lol this printer has been great for me and you're right about the quality. The led light bar that's mounted in the enclosure is the worst lighting possible for 3d prints (quality-wise) but they still look great. Then when you get them in real world lighting they look amazing. I'm happy with the quality this has given me and most of all the reliability. Truly I can slice anything, send it to the printer, and then just come back whenever it's done to break it free from the build plate

definitely an informative video. I would have liked to see some pictures of the flow rate towers before, and after installing cht nozzle. Also a visual comparison between that, and the factory nozzle would have been interestng. i have read the cht nozzle is longer than the factory qidi nozzle qidi advertises 35 mm flow, i wonder what is causing it to fall so short i already ordered mine. i'm looking forward to doing some tinkering when it finally ships
@PrintsLeo3D

You make a great point. I had so much time with this printer and so much I wanted to say/show, I knew there would be some stuff I wouldn't be able to truly showcase, but comments like yours let me know I should make extra effort to highlight those in the future. The CHT nozzles were 21mm (I believe) and if I remember correctly the stock nozzles were only 19mm. It ended up leaving me a z offset of under 1mm which I wasn't too happy with, but it printed just fine for me while I was using it. Someone in the discord led me on to some nozzle inserts for this hot end. It's basically a 10mm thread that you screw in hot end to add length, and then you can use regular non-volcanp style cht nozzles. My just came in the mail so I haven't used them yet, but that seems to be like the way to go.

@@PrintsLeo3D i appreciate the response! i think that 10mm adaptor should work great! ill likely buy both 21mm and standard with adaptor, to see if there are any advantages. ideally, i would like to see flow rates hit the advertised 30-35 mm/s. i feel this printer is very capable and it would be a shame to not take advantage of those capabilities

How would you compare the QIDI X-Max 3 to the Bambu Lab Carbon in regards to the quality of the prints? I hate the fact that the spool is stuck on the back on the unit.
@PrintsLeo3D
@PrintsLeo3D 4 ай бұрын
Well for the spool there is an option to mount it to the side of the machine. It's a printable option, but it's not one I have attempted yet as the back of the machine has been the best location for me based on where the printer is sitting. As for print quality it's hard to say definitively. The quality on this printer is 'as good' or 'better' than the quality I get from my two Bambu machines. That being said there are more knobs and levers to pull (and you have to pull lol) in order to get there. Of course by that I mean tuning your own pressure advance, input shaping, flow, etc.

@@PrintsLeo3DThanks for the information. For a first time user are these adjustments potentially a barrier to acheiving a print quality as good as the P1S/X1C? Or do these adjustments push the print quality even beyond these models? Due to the QIDIs heated chamber can we confidently say that it's print quality is superior to that of the P1S/X1C for some filaments?

Any advice on setting up OctoEverywhere, specifically if you aren't supposed to do your own Klipper updates if it's fine to install other stuff on the MKS board? How accurate was the leveling card for you? Seems they intentionally made it thicker than a standard sheet of paper. Makes me wonder why manufacturers don't include first layer squares and a picture of ideal squish in their instructions..
@PrintsLeo3D
@PrintsLeo3D 7 ай бұрын
You're absolutely right about updating the firmware, which k didn't feature in this video. All the updates need to go through Qidi as the screen firmare wraps the Klipper firmware (essentially holding it hostage to a degree). That being said adding OctoEverywhere just takes hold of all your currently working files so it shouldn't cause any corruption. The only thing you need to do is change the date on the host device itself. I think it's running on a clock of December 2022. After updating the date through terminal access, the OctoEverywhere install is simple. I'm going to be putting out an in-depth video on OctoEverywhere very shortly. As for the levelling card, it's definitely made a little thicker and of higher quality, but I think it's more to be able to withstand a lot of wear and tear and less because it is the "exact" thickness Qidi thinks you should use. In the end no matter what to use with this, the card, paper, a feeler gauge, you still need to do some live z offset adjusting. And when you do only adjust through the screen not through the front end -another issue with how Qidi has encapsulated Klipper- Thanks for watching as always

I think I had to update the internal clock on the MCU itself. I can look up the actual lines needed for Linux, but ultimately what you need to do is change the system time to the current time or the repos won't download properly for you. If you want I can look up those commands you need to run through the terminal line.

@PrintsLeo3D
@PrintsLeo3D 7 ай бұрын
You're correct about the length, they were about 2mm too long. No mod necessary it dropped right in, but it shrunk the z offset from -2.4 to -0.4 I was skeptical that would keep my touch accurate, but of all the prints and meshes I created it ran without issue. I don't know if I would run this like that long term, I'd probably create a bracket to move the probe to a lower position.

I was worried about pronunciation so I asked the rep I was dealing with when we were talking about the product. They told me to call it "child-dee" 😂 I swear I have the email. I meant to post it in the video and I forgot. I was worried about how it would sound lol Ps. Also I just checked the the FB reborn 2 is selling for around $359 right now?! Can that be possible. I had some error codes with the new Qidi X Plus 3, and been back & forth with Qidi Help about the codes and the Printer not working on the wi-fi link with the PC so no sending files and the Fluid interface was not showing in the device tab? I at last got the LAN system fixed by buying a long flat LAN Cat 7 shielded cable that went from my router to the printer, Mu PC already is connected to the router by one. I got the right IP Address set ( the PC one was not the same as it ) It had just two numbers different. I got Fluid interface on the device tab of the slicer now. and managed to clear the printers memory of excess done g-code files that had been finished. Now all working fine I ordered a webcam that looks like it do for time lapses and real time viewing. I was wondering do you know how I plug in a USB webcam so I can view by it the prints through the printers own usb so the signal goes through the LAN cable? Thanks 😉

At the end of one of your videos prior you said you'd be reviewing the bl x1c yet a review was never produced, then we get this where you're discrediting bl even though you admitted it's a good printer for print and play near the ending. The aquila I was on was nothing but a constant problem and it left me feeling like I was the problem so I followed every upgrade path just to get it decent. Countless hours and filament on mostly sub-par prints. I learned a lot and don't regret it but could only recommend one to someone that wants to learn this hobby down to the nuts and bolts, not just engage in printing and have fun with printing projects. The bl printers have set a new bar that everyone's scrambling to catch up to, and good luck to them as they'll all need it. Leo, are you raising the Qidi and putting down BL due to being sponsored by them? And did you leave out a BL review because they didn't partner with you?

Space thanks for the comment and I appreciate you taking the time to call me out on something like this. I'll answer all your questions as best I can but the short answer is : I love my Bambu printers and I recommend them to most/a lot of people. It doesn't mean I don't think there are some issues with them. Also doesn't mean I don't prefer other printers for my specific needs. Why no review? I was an early adopter of the BambuLabs machines. I had a kickstarter X1C and was super excited up to and when I got it. At the time there wasn't a whole lot of noise about these printers. I mean I was blown away by it, but it didn't seem like the 3d printing world as a whole was really feeling the effect. I remember being at ERRF 2022 that year and there was only a single BL printer there (that I saw), and I didn't hear much if any buzz about those machines. So when I got my X1C and saw how great this could be for newer users I was of course going to make a video detailing how easy it had been for me. The problem is, like all my videos, I just don't get a lot of time to record them. So as time went on EVERYONE was doing a BL review. Especially when the P1P came along and lowered the price point. It just didn't seem like I could add anything to the conversation that other smarter youtubers were already creating(and with better production quality too). It just got to a point where the "hey this printer is really great and I think you should trust it" video got left in the dust and everyone was already-wise to it. So I didn't think I could do anything positive to add to that whole buzz. That being said maybe I should do some BL content. It's just hard because those printers just work lol and they don't require the same hands on as other printers do. It's a year since I got my kickstarted unit (and added a P1P) and now the entire 3d printing ecosystem is warped around BL and their lineup of printers. For the most part I think BL has done a good job at answering problems that have arisen (thermal runaway, makerworld, cloud networking, etc). I like their blog and for a new and powerful company I like how quickly they respond to the community. I don't really think they made any major misstep without explaining themselves and also attempting to respond. The only mistake I feel they made, and it feels so blatant which hasn't been like them, is allowing these new X1E machines to not be connected to the cloud. It's been a complaint from the community for awhile and I don't think they've ever given a really satisfactory answer. Then all of a sudden then come out with a new machine that is geared towards business and schools, its priced accordingly, and it doesn't require cloud access. It feels like they just tried to glide that one by. Anyway, not really a huge black mark on their record, just sort of out of the ordinary for them. Am I team Qidi? I mean I like this Xmax3. They didn't necessarily sponsor me, they sent me the printer for free (which is amazing and much appreciated), but that doesn't bias how I feel about the printer. Tiertime sent me a printer also and I wasn't as happy with that printer and I let that known in my review. I like the Qidi and it's been rock solid for me. The fact I am comparing the Xmax3 to the BL machines just goes to show how powerful BL has become in only a years time (and how much I respect those machines). So I am specifically pointing out areas where these two printers diverge, and what I think those divergences mean and if they are worth it for your particular use case. I don't want anyone to think I am putting down the BL machines. They are great, but they are now the benchmark (which is crazy considering how new they are), and a lot of printers going forward are going to be compared to them for better or for worse. I know people are considering the Xmax3, and the question truly is, how does this compare to the leader -the BL machines- so I am trying to give some points and counterpoints to this machine compared to those. I would say if I am 'team anything' it would be team Klipper. I think this is the best firmware out there now, and it's what I think the future of 3d printing will be on. So if something is harnessing Klipper (which the Xmax does) then it has my curiosity. If it does it well then it has my attention. That being said I appreciate you asking the question, because my intent was never to bash the BL machines, without the understanding that I respect what they are doing and they are now the standard.

Actually I like my Qidi X-Max 3 a lot, but also have some more complains and did some modifications: - The spoolholder in the back is not a nice place. Also I prefer active dryers for ABS,ASA and PA12. So I replaced the reverse bowden by a longer one (transparent, 3.0 mm inside diameter), extended the cable of the filamen runout sensor and placed an active drybox left to the printer. - The door has to be open on PLA prints. However, somehow its always in the way, esp if placing a filament spool/dryer to the left of the printer. So I used a saw and modified the door hinges... I cut away the 3 "rods" were the door is clicked onto and removed the door. Than I drilled some holes, so I could place one long rod to become the new hinge. Now I can simply pull the rod and put the door on a shelf (together with the top cover) while printing PLA and put it in when printing other materials. - I added a webcam. - The PiNano M4 uses the same eMMC module. Qidi's bord is an OEM variant of the MKS SKIPR. The the USB2eMMC Adapter for the skipr can be used to image the eMMC and write it to anothe, f.e. an 32GB one. You have to use SSH to give some commands to expand the filesystem. So I now have a lot of free space. Even if you do not upgrade the eMMC, I strictly recommend the adapter to do a backup of your eMMC. If you mess up with installing extra features its always nice to have a backup. Imaging and restoring the 8GB eMMC is less than 3:30 min. - The WLAN pasword you can set via display is limited to 32 characters. I have more... So I used a WLAN bridge and connected via LAN. However, after getting access by network, I could set the full WLAN password by SSH terminal (but I didn't, I need the USB port for the WLAN stick for other purposes anyway at the moment). - Unloading the filament you have to pull the filament, else there is a good chance it gets stuck in the extruder. Actually that happened the first time I unloaded... With a volcano style nozzle you have a big melt zone. Unloading the filament, the tip is still weak and get pressed by the extruder gears. Sometimes it gets so flat, it winds inside the extruder instead of leaving it. So always pull on unload. Even than, the tip of the filament is deformed an sometimes is cought in the runout sensor. So no way to add an automatic filament changer (ERCF) with the original hotend. Actually this is the reason bambulab uses cut&poo, so there is no need to unload the filament tip at all - its simply left insided and pooed out on the next load. - I upgraded the hotend to a revo. With RevoHF the volumatric flow is about the same as with the original hotend. But also unreliable unload/bad filament tip. However, with Revo Standard or ObXidian, the unload works flawless and you get a quite nice filament tip, so using an ERCF would become possible. As on multicolour prints the filament change use quite a time (on a bambu with cut&poo even an insane 1:30 min), the pure printing speed/volumetric flow isn't so important anyway. So now I use RevoHF for normal prints, RevoStandard for multiColour (at the moment I do not have build the ERFC, but make manual changes sometimes) and ObXidian for abrasives. - I added a 3th MCU (an old creality silent board). Qidis hotend uses a thermocouple, no input available for a hotend thermistor (for the Revo). While the toolboard is a variant of the MKS THR and I might have swapped it to a stock one instead using Qidis OEM version, I had an old board on hand while I had to wait for a THR. But using an extra MCU has his own benefits, like extra outputs. While I am quite happy with the changes I made, I plan some more: - The webcam sits in the back, so it points into direction of the lightstrip. I plan to use the extra heater outputs I get from the 3th MCU to controll two lightstrips, one in the back, one at the front. So I can change light depending if I look from the front directly or from the back by the web interface. - The full MKS skipr is quite cheap. I might replace the OEM version by the full one (so I do not need the 3th MCU anymore). Also I might upgrade the display from a serial resistive to an SPI capacitive one (faster preview....) The set of MKS Skipr + Touchscreen was about 63€ on last sale on Aliexpress. As it has two heater outputs for hotends, which are not needed due to the toolboard, theese could control lights. - I might replace the toolboard and use an MKS THR36 instead. So I do not need to run an extra cable through the cable chain for the thermistor. Also there are extra I/O - for example for neopixel or a filament sensor on the toolhead (wich would be nice to check if filament realy is loaded using an ERCF). - I might replace the feeder by an original Bondtech LGX light. You can not adjust tension on Qidis extruder nor can you unengage the feeder. Actually adding a servo to unengage the feeder on unload, using just the ERCF feeder to pull the filament out, might solve the deforming filament tip on unload problem. - MKS still uses Armbian Jessy. Quite old, you can not upgrade the webcam software to the latest version f.e. There is an adapted bullseye kernal on github for the mks pi and mks skipr. So maybe I will upgrade to the latest version. Sadly I have many ideas, but not the best design skills. So the further mods might take some time... Fun fact: The first prints I did after my modifications were the mk4 upgrade parts. On a qidi, with e3d hotend,a creality 3th mcu using bambulab mint ABS. For my Prusa. Any major brand missing ? As a summery: The X max 3 has some minor flaws, but is already a very solid printer "as is". Still, it's very solid platform makes it a very good choice for tinkerers also.

Thank you so much for this insightful, informative, and in-depth comment. The spool holder. Qidi offers a printable spool holder that changed the orientation to the side. I found the back to be "fine". I was in the process of creating a mount for the spool to be mounted on top of the printer, but it got side tracked and I had been printing with it anyway so I ultimately shelved the idea. It does speak to your further point about filament changing and to the extent of the runout sensor. There is a sort of dance you need to perform when processing a mid-print filament swap. I could probably make a video by itself just about it lol one suggestion is to always advance at least 10mm of filament into the nozzle before retracting to avoiding any sort of clog. So while I think changing the spool location could be beneficial it's serviceable where it is now for me so I haven't spent more time on it. I was going to upgrade the eMMC but I just got used to using the USB stick wirelessly that it would end up being more work than it's worth. You're suggesting of having a backup is smart though. I back up all my Klipper side files and then if anything really goes haywire I'll be looking to Qidi to get me back on track. I never had issues with the extruder tension which surprised me. It's tensioned by a spring without adjustment (as you mentioned). I assembled and disassembled the extruder around 10 times, and I was impressed with how well it held up. Ultimately I like your conclusion. I think out of the box it needs some hands on, it's not a Bambu Labs, but it's still very powerful. Apart from that though you're free to upgrade a lot of aspects of this printer, which while unique to your needs, gives you a lot of room to explore. Again I appreciate your thoughts (and follow up from the short I posted) and hope you update me as you continue to use you XMax3! Edit: one thing I did want to talk about but kept it for a follow up video was how Qidi has wrapped Klipper. So that certain elements need to be articulated only from the screen and not from Fluidd. The implementation of z offset is the biggest offender !

@@PrintsLeo3D Definitly the display qidi uses is a bit of a downside. Not only for z-offset calibration (normaly - and also in fluid - arrow up means increasing distance between nozzle and bed. On the Qidi it moves the bed up, reducing the distance.) Also it has it's own firmware and is connected serial. This is the reason, firmware updates take so long - actually the display sets the main board into sort of debug mode and write a new image bit by bit via serial. Another side effect: if display and board firmware are not on the same version (for example downgrading to an older image) the position of an icon and the position where you have to click are not always the same (actually this was the reason I rammed my nozzle into the bed while live adjusting z). Happily a normal consumer might not ran into this problem. Qidi do a purge before unload. Still, unload seems to fast. There might be ways for improvements - but at the moment I am not even sure, if the unload sequence is defined in Klipper. As a Klipper newbee I might miss something, but I thought there should be a macro for unloading. However, with this serial display using it's own firmware it might send it's own preprogammed sequence by serial instead... The Qidi is my first printer using Klipper. Actually having a working system to start with, doing some modifications, is my way to learn about Klipper in small steps. I was supprised how easy f.e. adding an extra MCU is. So while I plan further modifications, I have a bunch of older printers I might convert to klipper first. For the Qidi I am happy with the results for now, and thanks to the Revo z-offset recalibration is mostly not needed anymore, as all nozzles have exactly the same lenght.

I’m seeing no reason you should have reduced the accelerations when the limit to flow is caused by max speed. So in the case that you ever managed to reach 200mm/s with 7000mm/s^2 accelerations then you would get flow limited immediately, so setting it to 300mm/s top speed doesn’t make any sense. The machine can easily crank out 15000+ accel if you tune input shaping correctly. Setting the max volumetric flow doesn’t automatically slow the print down so you have to set your max speed as below the point of flow limitation.

I'm not sure which part of the video you're referring to. I made this a while ago and I know I've spoken about these topics ina few videos. Slicers can use max volumetric flow rate differently, but when isn't Orca slicer, setting amax volumetric flow rate for a given filament will throttle your speeds so that you never over shoot that value.

The quality on these machines is really superb. I have both Bambu and Qidi machines and the quality on both is on par. Bambu offers more hand holding (and that is by no means a bad thing) which means a wider group of people will have an easier time and create better prints. That doesn't mean Qidi can't offer the same experience, you get less guide rails , but also that means you have some room manipulate certain areas you may not on a machine like a Bambu Labs. Both of these companies offer great printers, the experience is probably catered to different sects of people , the best we can do is try and determine if they're the right fit for us.

@@PrintsLeo3D equally fair opinion and great video. It definitely had me looking it up on Amazon.

Yep, I just want it to work with a simple straightforward workflow. I don't want my parts going to the cloud though either.

@@vidsurfer0725 I'd rather not mess with the printer settings etc. I'd rather it just print my parts hassle free. I want trouble free parts in a day at most for whatever I'm working on with the printer.

Bambu monitoring prints will improve the tech overall. Look at Tesla collecting data from every tesla sold. Bambu are smart as fuk

Yea, I think I cut the section where I said "I doubt Bambu is doing anything nefarious" , because I honest don't think they are. For some people, especially those that work in secure or privileged fields, any sort of data monitoring is a concern and can be a non starter. Bambi has singlehandedly changed the makeup of the 3d printing consumer landscape, and I hope they continue to innovate.

@@PrintsLeo3D yeah I understand the inconvenience for some people, but I think they are just studying the data to better improve in the future.

Yeah they're "smart as fuk" at stealing your data/designs and selling it to whoever wants it 😂 you dont think there's a reason cheap chinese clones of any remotely successful products seem to instantly pop up on the market? 😂 your tesla example isnt even a comparison because you're not using tesla's to potentially design a successful product that they can steal and put you out of business. Youre just driving it and thats it. It cant literally steal your ideas like bambu.

Pronouned Chee Dee. Qi, (Chinese: “steam,” “breath,” “vital energy,” “vital force,” “material force,” “matter-energy,” “organic material energy,” or “pneuma”) in Chinese philosophy, medicine, and religion, the psychophysical energies that permeate the universe.

Do you happen to work for Qidi? I'm not trying to be rude but that's a very thorough comment and I'd love to finally get some clarity on this topic. Someone else last week corrected me on the pronunciation as well. I'd like to think you both are right, but before this video I tried to do as much diligence as I could, sominask the representative I had been dealing with what the correct pronunciation was. They told me it was "Quid-dee" lol so I'm willing to believe they are mistaken but I'd love to get an official response to it. I'm hoping you're that official response.

@@PrintsLeo3D No I dont work for QiDi, I wish I did though! but I was watching a live video of a QiDi printer launch and a QiDi employee was sitting in the chat and he confirmed the correct pronunciation, as there were arguments in the chat

Pronounced chee-dee just FYI. :)

I had heard a few different pronunciations before I made this video, and because I wanted to be sure I wasn't butchering the name I asked the company. The representative I spoke with told me it was pronounced 'qui-dee'. I followed up for clarification which is where I ended up. It's possible the representative I spoke with was incorrect, but being the information was from as close to the source as I could get I decided to use that pronunciation. I would love an even more official word from Qidi as I really like this printer and I doubt it's the last video I focus on of theirs.

@@PrintsLeo3D That's so funny! Because I have seen other videos where the person says they spoke to a representative of the company who told them it was chee-dee. I'm definitely not faulting you and I have heard a lot of variations haha. From what I know of Chinese pronunciation, Q is generally a "ch" sound, hence why I thought that was correct. Will the world ever know the truth? 😂

I appreciate the reply. You aren't the first person to raise the reply, and it does feel weird pronouncing it this way, because I have heard it so often pronounced 'Chi-dee'. I was hoping when I got the response that's how the company would ask me to say it lol So it was somewhat begrudging that I chose the final pronunciation. Hopefully one day I can speak with someone at the top of the corporate food chain and get to the bottom of it... or maybe they change their name lol
