For the first part, I'm not sure on why we wouldn't want root notes od chords jumping around like a melody. Yeah you can invert and make them closer and smoother, but why? What is wrong with larger intervals ? Anyone ?

really just comes down to personal preference, it was more just an example to show when you might want to use a slash chord vs a regular chord. either option is musical
