The melody speaks to everyone. Its soooo important ❤

Truly remarkable ! Your quality as a guitar teacher is of the highest level. You didn't just make this totally accessible to anyone but you also include other great sources besides your own. Making it clear that it's for the benefit of the student and nothing else. No ego. Just value. All the respect to you, man. This roadmap is pure gold, and will help everyone who uses it.

This is basically what Beato has been doing in his short noodly vids but refusing to tell anyone what it actually is.

Wow, it all broke down so well, I understood everything even though I have never before had any bit of understanding in music and more so its theory. Thank you so much for this video, that's how schools should explain material 😭

Great lesson - I am an old guitar fart now, playing across the styles here and there from blues to folk , jazz and rock, but this is exciting new for me. I fear, practice time is too short for me to get this going. But it's excellent stuff though, no question. Triads are musically much more powerful than spooling scales up and down the neck. It´s ike this.

You lost me at 3:03. How did we bring in the D-minor discussion and bring in the bflat? WHat logic got us here? Guess my brain capacity just can't handle this concept. Been trying to understand for years. Anybody reading this feel free to reply. Seems like we got some smart people commenting. THanks.

Inversion and sequence are best for motif (pronounced moh-teef as it is Latin and the i = ee). When I think of melody, I think of Mozart or Yngwie Malmsteen. When I think of "catchy tunes" I think of pop rock. The two then really are not alike whatsoever.

Thank you so much. This is tremendously beneficial. I've been dipping my toes in music theory but always with trepidation and an unfounded fear that it would interfere with my natural playing but in truth that was based on the fear of not understanding. Your explanation is fantastic and makes perfect sense. At the very least now I'm understanding why somethings sound great and works beautifully and why somethings sound crap.

Porcupine Tree write the most beautifully sad songs ive ever heard. Arriving Somewhere But Not Here still makes me tear up but in a good way. As someone with extreme ptsd, Steve Wison has changed my life. Cynic, atheist and death should be required listening for any prog player. I remember when Focus released and it blew my mind. Those three bands are what have made me practice for 6 to 8 hours a day for the last 30 years.
