I agree with the comment(s) below that this reminds me so much of SuperFruit. I could almost forget it is PTX. As usual, KO and Matt make it sound like instruments are accompanying them and it sounds like Mitch and Scott singing together in a SuperFruit video. I love it.

Look carefully - two of Kirstin's 'pillows' are her white dogs, who you got to see in the video for 'Thank You.' All the songs on this album are reflections on their individual lives and how they got here, starting with the title track 'The Lucky Ones.' This one was written by Scott and mitch, and reflects something we've all gone through at some point in our lives - you're in a couples relationship, but things aren't quite right, and Friday night was a bad point. The POV is from the one trying to chill things down and patch things up. 'Before you get to in your head.. I'll bring you coffee in bed.'

Not sure why you think Mitch doesn’t sing in head voice a lot? That’s how they’ve been having him sing for years and the belting has been more when he does the individual high notes. It wasn’t until their home ep and their latest Christmas album that Mitch started singing in his lower range. I think after he expressed not wanting to sing the high notes all the time. Also a ton of his head voice is on all their superfruit originals. Which this song sounds so much like. But I agree his head voice is beautiful, but also his lower range. Let’s face it, he can sing any range and make it sound good. Btw Kevin is meat and Avi was potatoes. I remember because when Shawn said it I thought meat rhymes with beat and Kevin makes the beat.

Love your breakdown as always!! Since this is an album celebrating their first decade together, I see this one as a nod to Superfruit. Scott & Mitch, I’ve seen that room in the video and those suits before! Mitch in the rafters! Amazing harmonies! And Kevin!!!! The room changes to reflect each member which is really cool. They’ve worked hard to stay together and all the while respecting each other.

I hope they will get the chance to perform these songs live soon. I really miss their live performances (even though I can only watch it on KZbin, not in person). Of course they did some live performances for the Christmas album, but I want more! Of course they've performed "Happy Now" on tour but unfortunately none of the videos has great sound quality, so I can't really tell the differences between the studio and the live versions because my ear isn't really good at picking out such things.

This was so good - had a great dance vibe and such a positive feeling with the lyrics about supporting those you love. Definitely the Superfruit vibe, probably because it was primarily written by and lead performers were Scott and Mitch. But yeah, Kevin killed it too. Well, they all did. Kevin is a machine! I was wondering if they are looping the staccato notes of the intro into the verse, to add the “ahs” in the second part of the verse. What do you think? Matt’s bass is getting better and better, he sounds like a syth bass, so heavy. I love all those techno sounds and the lyrics are great, very catchy. “When you got two in your head, I’ll bring you coffee in bed.” Still can’t believe that five voices are producing all that sound. Love your reaction. 🤗

Facts. I think PTX just does that to bass vocalists..even Avi’s voice continued to get deeper as they went along..I’m enjoying Matt’s voice as he grows with the group.
