I don't think I have ever seen a reactor who enjoyed the music as much as you do! I love to see how absorbed you get in the intricacies of the music. Hey, you got more than your money's worth. Oh, wait, you didn't pay. God bless the Internet! ; - D

I'm glad you did this one. As you saw, it is a lot of fun! It does have an African beat to it. I don't know this for a fact but my theory is that Kevin was involved in that. His father was born in Nigeria. (Ask Kevin what his favorite food is and he'll start talking about Nigeria dishes.) They have done collaborations with many different singers. My favorite is "The Wizard of Ahhs" with Todrick Hall. Scott, Kirstin, and Mitch knew Todrick before Pentatonix existed. Did you notice that Scott gave Mitch "the look" during his solo at the end? Watch Scott when Mitch sings "O come let us adore him". Scott has been know to miss his cue to start singing because he is too engrossed in Mitch's solo. As for another Christmas song, I recommend "God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen". They put a different spin on that too.
@QofyReacts3 жыл бұрын
Haha I noticed the look but didn’t make anything of it And I meant collabs with groups not solo artists I have already done the wizard of ahhs

It's like lion king matching to O come all ye faithful, which is why they all of a sudden bring in a choir because that's what the song is singing, O come all ye faithful and the choir comes in on cue

I've tried, many times, to get through that key change without getting chills. I have failed, every single time.

So many Christmas songs sound like funeral songs! For songs that are supposed to be about joy, they sound dark and depressing. This version of the song puts the JOY back in joyful! Great song and great reaction!

Seeeee I told you it's amazing. They "pentatonixed" it. You want this song to be sung like this by everyone from now on. At least I compare it to every other version that's one reason why I said I prefer this version over Voctave. It has such a great vibe to it. You have to dance and be happy. Try "Joy to the world" next. Avi is great there too.

Kevin is relentless! Imagine not just being able to hold down a beat like that, but to keep it going for so long and not miss a beat. I mean they are all amazing, but to me, K.O. is the actual alien 🤯 The choir was really good too and I loved your reaction to this. Keep it up bro ❤
@jenniferlandry57673 жыл бұрын
My choir did this arrangement 2 years ago! It was an absolute bugger to learn, but so much fun once we had it. Of course, it took 60 of us to sound as good as Pentatonix does it with 5 people! Also, if I recall correctly (I don't have the score handy or I'd look) you are correct about the sopranos leading the key modulation, then the bass, then the tenors and altos jumping to the new key.
@QofyReacts3 жыл бұрын
Ahhh thanks Jennifer I thought as much with the modulation
@royj.mattice3 жыл бұрын
The modulation went like this: they started in the key of "G", the bass progression went C to D (the shift you heard by Avi and Sopranos) to new key "A."

I've been obsessed with African music since the 80s when I first heard King Sunny Ade then Osibisa, Miriam Makeba, Hugh Masekela and on and on through to the present. Pentatonix got the authentic elements so right. I'm so proud of them for doing it justice. The Voctave version of this song is staggering and I can only imagine its effect on someone who is religious, which I'm not, but of course I am going to prefer this version. You want joyful and triumphant? Listen to this.
