I have a radio like this. I had it for 30 years and it still plays.
@Qosmokid8 ай бұрын
That's great. Have you ever had to recap it or do any service to it?
@marvinwhittaker8 ай бұрын
@@Qosmokid not really. Only the radio part works. Like the cassette player, it plays a little faster.

It sure is a beauty, I still hope to someday get a silver model from JVC or Sharp

Thanks for the video and great work on restoring your TRC-975. We have to keep these old classics in top-top shape! Super job on using that L-bracket to fix the broken handle. That's a great idea and I'll have to keep that in mind in case the handle on my TRC-975 breaks. Thanks to your videos, I'll be playing my TRC-975 along with my TRC-931 side by side tonight. They look great right next to each other. I should get a TRC-935 to complete my Lasonic boombox trio. Shoot...old boomboxes are very addictive! Thanks again!

Yes they are, I'm still hoping to get a JVC or Sharp someday. Hopefully before they cost as much as a car
@icemany1923 жыл бұрын
I have a few new dead stock TRC-935 in original packaging for sale if you are still interested. Just listed on eBay. Sold one in less than 20 hours and one is in active bidding.

Hello, can you explain how to connect the external speakers and what kind of speakers can be used .

My friend had almost every model. His dad owned an electronic store in Brooklyn. His dad described these radios as no name brand cheapo crap. Who knew they would be so popular today?
@Qosmokid3 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah I remember seeing them at the swap meet. They were considered very bad compared to the established brands of the 80s. It's crazy that they cost as much as they do today
@ninjadojonobi79233 жыл бұрын
@@Qosmokid What is funny is that today they are better made than most radios coming out of China. They do bring back memories.

I need some minor things repaired on my trc 975, but I'm nervous about opening it. Both cassettes play, but they sound kind of muffled and one plays kind of slow
@Qosmokid2 жыл бұрын
Sounds like one needs a belt replacement or maybe adjustment to the motor speed. Maybe the muffled could be azimuth adjustment, have you cleaned the heads with head cleaner or 90% higher alcohol?
@DonnieBlaze282 жыл бұрын
@@Qosmokid I really don't remember if I tried the alcohol back when I first got it. I will give it a try. I had a guy that was going to get it in tip top shape for me, but his shop shut down after covid. I also think the inside needs a good cleaning. I can imagine how much dust is in there

@bobbykelly7924 Anywhere you can buy old items like Ebay. That's where I bought both of mine. Actually I'm thinking I'm going to sell at least one of mine but I will prefer to sell it in person if possible to avoid paying the huge Ebay fees.

@Qosmokid4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Miguel, someone commented that is has something to do with the recording commutator that I talked about and pointed out in the video. All I did was spray electrical contact cleaner and moved it back and forth a bunch of times. Its not perfect but it helped.
