QooCam practice in California Desert - 8K 360video - injected

Best watched in your VRheadset - Occulus Quest or similar
Shot with the Kandao QooCam 8K camera - though I feel with the low light the resolution suffered, getting used to flying the camera suspended below without toooo much pendulum action.
The camera is normally not that muddy in the image - however wonder if the late in the day low light may be part of that.

KZbin defaulted to 1080p which looked awful on my 4K monitor. Once I bumped KZbin up to 4K it looked really good. The 360º was a neat view. I will have to try this in my rift S. Nice to see you've stuck with the H

:-) it should keep processing a bit - and in the some undetermined future - the 8K should be available. this makes quite a bit of difference to the details in the video.

Thank you. Printing a slightly updated mount based on this.. then getting some shots once it stop raining :-You know how it is, one never know how its going to work until you get it off the ground and start flying :-) As life returns to normal there are more videos slowly coming. Adding sailing and random tech. it will all make sense eventurally.

@@bophoto It’s great to hear from you! I was looking for a new Quadcopter and found out our friend Frank was no longer in business. To bad I did a lot of business with him. I still remember the two of you sharing some great stories at the show a few years ago. I’ll have to hunt that video up when I get some time!

@@RC944jim I know - its a travesty - Frank went all in and delivered on customer service like nobody else.. DJI and other drone manufactures made some choices, and ultimately the big manufactures are now choosing to sell direct instead of going through local dealers. I get it, we all want money, but..... I feel guys like Frank was a good ambasador for the hobby and did more good for DJI than the money he made reselling their products.

What a great sight to see the Typhoon H still being used. Is that the H Plus or non Plus? So nice to see you back! It's been a while. HEY AirWolf - long time no see - still working here - however this was the first 360º worth sharing. the rest if unlisted LOL. staying with camera/aerial but will be adding some saing in the future. and learning how to create 360º 3D (stereo) content - its lovely in the headset but feel at some point it will be instantly obsolete when 360 depth maps with texture become the new video standard at some point (if)

@@bophoto I totally agree with the evolution of tech! It's hard to keep up. My day job has some tech but its in science, hydrology to be exact, and most hydrology tech is basically a monopoly! I recently got a Skydio 2 drone and am having some fun with that. Many videos posted but also unlisted like you. I also recently got an Oculus Quest 2 and will look forward to more 360 from you, at least until the mesh..... Haha! In the off time I tinker around with my Typhoon H Pluses. They seem to have more idiosyncrasies than the my original H which is still flawless for me! Good to see you! Cheers!

I noticed in your other (unlisted) video, that the softness in the image maybe vibrations from you camera mount (other video went soft when you took off). Can you add some rubber vibration damping to the mount? Fantastic to see 8k 360 drone footage !

there are rubber dampers - the camera turns quickly 90degrees on take off and swings like crazy, thous the softness until the motion slows down. probably never going to get a sharp shot at take off. the rig is build to "hang" and stabilize, in forward flight the arm push back and have a small canard fin. to give a little pressure which keeps it nice and stable. you can relly see the effect in the last desert push shot. the drone is flying into headwind, full stick, and litterally completely in front of the camera which is maybe 6+ inches behind the drone carrying it in that shot LOL.. was hilarious seeing the two spheres in the editing, drone entirely in one sphere. now all we need is a 12k so we can start to get satisfying sharpness - having worked with broadcast, its hard to get past the fact that 8K really resemble 720p at best in goggles.. I want to see goggle sharpness that looks like 1080p or better (in my dreams anyway)

BTW. unrelated - working on a 10k camera for close quater 360-3D (stereo) to shoot in sailboats, the big rigs on the market all are too big and just can't render stereo at say 50cm. ;-)

@@bophoto Give Topaz Video Enhance AI a try, I've had some decent improvements in 360 video quality running videos through that app - Although you do need a decent GFX card and some patience

You are proabbly right about that - yet right now - post processing of 8K 360º video is still pretty nightmarish. also it took KZbin almost 2 days to process this after it was uploaded. (5gig video file) the 8K means you have about 2000pixels per 90degree, your typical FOVcenter is half of that, so the quality when exposed right (not like mine underexposed) is comparable to low grande 720p at this time.. not very satisfying.. but surely this will change quickly in the next years

the thumbnail when you scrub the mouse along the play track looks fine. there is some weird pink or purple tint to the footage though...it may be something with the back end of youtube. might want to delete and re upload. cool tho!

probably could tweak the green curve. this is actually one place where Vimeo have KZbin way beat, as you can re-upload a fixed edit of a video in place of a existing video. rather than create a new upload page. BTW. just realized KZbin is still processing - 6K and 8K is not up yet

Yes pulled the good-ol H out of the closet, its perfect for this, printed a mount that slide onto the camera track I just need to crack open a old H camera and hardmount it as FPV camera on the front of the track

@@bophoto coincidentally I just busted out the H last night and going to fly it today. Stick a Dji air unit on there:) print out a few more of those mounts. Looking forward to what you come up with.

@@markschannel6409 i have a little new in box crazepony spotter v2, its wideangle and self-contained. will back it up a little to fly it kinda on the back of the H to see the 360º camera in the bottom of the image while flying to know its not rocking too much. and its super light, I have already added more weight than I removed from the H.... one gotta be respectful to old H's payload limits. otherwise I might have to go fetch manually all of a sudden.

@@markschannel6409 BTW the last shot pushing over the desert, straight into the wind, the H was litterally flying 30degree angle and the camera hanging behind the H. LOL yet barely moving forward, in retrospect I should have zapped those two clips as they are boring, but drone pilot wise amusing LOL
