I’m happy resellers aren’t making 💩 its scummy charging someone 2200 for a pair of 200 dollar shoes I get making a nice profit but over charging 10 times the amount is crazy I’m a collector from the heart and just love having the shoes I like cheating someone is not right because you were able to get them and someone else wasn’t so you charge them like crazy is just scummy

Trinidad James is correct. The history is lost. Look at the Jordan 1-23. They all had a story and a reason for their design. They were innovative, fresh, intriguing. People nowadays only know Jordan from a crying meme, which is an absolute low point in sports history. Hype is the only thing driving this train, it’s uninteresting/lame and you got lil yachty taking a white AF1 putting a shitty logo on it and calling it cool and limited 😂😂😂😂😂

He’s right in that point, but wrong on the whole part of resellers not being the driving force behind the fall of the resell market. From the Pandemic, all the way to 2022, shows that had no business selling out, we’re selling out cause resellers were tryin to Bot everything up, driving up fake levels of demand, which caused them to ask for $100-$200 over retail on the after market. Plenty of Jordan’s, Nike’s and Adidas’ we’re selling out and going for crazy over resell that had no business being in the resell market, let alone asking for that much over retail. That’s what started the eventual shift to the other brands like Saucony, New Balance, and Asics. Reebok is gonna eventually get their time to shine once again, maybe next year.

I'm new here and only started seriously getting into collecting sneakers during the pandemic. I don't believe that sneaker culture is dead. If anything, it's a great time and good entry point to get into it. I think those who are very vocal about it are those who saw how much money was made during the pandemic and jumped in to ride the bandwagon buying anything that's hyped up only to try and resell for a profit instead of buying what you like. At the same time, I also believe that companies like Nike are oversaturating the market of multiple silhouettes with very similar colorways. They stood still and rested on their laurels while others innovated (successful or not). In the end, the sneaker culture is alive and well and will continue to be for a very long time to come.

People outgrow the hype of getting new sneakers. When I was in my early 20s, I was all about the hype, but priorities change as you get older. Once in a while, I check out the sneaker KZbin channels of creators I used to follow religiously, just to see what they’re up to. Some have evolved their content, while others are still producing videos like it’s early 2016.

I just think it's a sign of the times, age of the consumer is alot younger, what's available to them now and even being able to access the information about what's coming wasn't always readily available back n the day unless you actually knew someone in the industry, now days that info is so easy to come by, the internet has changed the way we do things and it was always going to evolve. Sneakers, Music, Fashion will forever be changing with the times I think what's not changing is the ol school Sneaker heads who refuse to change as the culture changes.

It’s just the times fr. Yeezy had their time in 2014-2018, Jordan’s had their run pre pandemic-2023 ish, and now it’s time for the comfy/lifestyle wave. Yes people have less money from inflation, but the people are still spending. We have small attention spans as consumers and people, we always want what the next big thing is, and sometimes things get outplayed from the big brands, but who could blame em? Resell goes down because the demand does, and people hold on to that fake demand to try to blame sneakers being dead, but that’s not the case. Fire video Qias I mess with it keep going 🔥🔥🔥

I honestly think the economy also has a play in the tastemaker silhouettes like why pay MORE for these Jays that just keep going up in retail price when I get can the new groovy shit that has lower retail. Resale market fluctuates from that sense too and we are seeing a down year from resellers not being able to move “collectors item” grail type shoes and resorting to relying on clothing and trendy shoe sales to keep them afloat. It’s a Collectors market and this somewhat happen in 2015-16 era when NMDs and ultraboost were hot but now it’s OD with the hype money graps to make up for Nike being under bad management CEO wise giving other brands opportunity to capture market share and be relevant. I love the competitive state of the game.

Because of TikTok, Instagram, etc. Sneakers got big and everybody, who was not in the sneaker game suddenly wanted a part of the cake, making the prices go up. Now, these people who go with the flow and hype dropped out. Thats it. The demand is much smaller and the companies overexaturated the market. That makde the prices drop. But all those sneakerheads who were part of the game a few years ago, still are sneakerheads.

Shoe culture is meant for everyone not just for rich people that will pay exuberant prices to have an exclusive shoe! The only way it survives is by the younger generations getting involved and having access to the shoes and not getting priced out! and also by Nike fixing the buying process make the shoes only available in stores and more strict on how the stores sell them because the online buying is not working especially with bots it makes it impossible to combat the resale buyers only buying to resale and your average customer or collector not having a chance to buy them at retail. Nike doesn’t have to oversaturate the market with all these different color ways that draw zero interest but make quality products that are more appealing and give a stronger chance that your average customer can get them!

What it boil down to is who is complaining that shoes are sitting. Me personally I love being able to walk in a store or order them online and they are available and I don’t have to pay crazy resell prices. Nike may be making more than they need to but they are still going to make their money. I think it is time for some of the resellers to find a new hustle because then margins are getting tight 😂
