I enjoyed the video. The little G90 does a great job. I have been thinking about getting me a G90 as well. At present I have a Yaesu FT-891 . Thank you for making the video.73 AE4OY William Peacock EM-81UF SOUTH EAST GEORGIA

These radios are fantastic. I regularly use mine /P. I used it at home on my home made dipole for 40m, which also works on 15m. Managed SC on 15m, with a rr of 56. Keep'em coming. 73, M7EGD

Looks like you had a blast! I'm enjoying the videos. I do a lot of POTA and use a G90, so I appreciate seeing portable and lower power radio. You can't beat the views when you get out and get on the air. 73, N2MAK

Thanks for the great videos. May I ask what pole you're using? Thanks and 73, Steve KK4VTF
@COASTALWAVESWIRES Жыл бұрын
Thanks Steve, this video is an older one so it took me a minute. I used a 17 foot Crappie fishing pole. They’re available in different lengths on Amazon and work quite well. Lately I’ve upgraded to a DX Commander 7 meter pole and also a DX Commander 10 meter pole.

Aaaaaaaand now I gotta get one of those vertical kits from qrpguys lol. I already have a buddistick pro and it works great with my g90 or even a QRO radio, but I'm wanting to get something that packs a little bit lighter to go with my xiegu x6100, AND I've been doing a lot of cw and with 30m on this antenna it really fits

Hey Walt, really enjoying the different setups and radios. Any chance you can compare an end fed and a dipole using the 5105?

Thanks! I will be back over in Europe later this summer with the space to do that. I will give it a try!

Do you prefer the G90 to the 5105? If so, (other than the output difference), why? Does it concern you that there is nowhere to have your Xiegus repaired under warranty anywhere but back in China?
@COASTALWAVESWIRES2 жыл бұрын
Yes I prefer the G90 over the 5105 and the main reason is the SDR waterfall as well as the power. I’m not concerned about the warranty issue, I haven’t had any issues with any of my Xiegu equipment (I also have the XPA125B amp).

Wow great video, may I ask how the 5 wires are all connected together? And how do you connect the 5 wires to the Qrq guys tri band vertical
@COASTALWAVESWIRES2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching, I just strip about an inch off the end of the wires and wrap them around the treaded bolt on the transformer and then tighten down the butterfly nut on the QRP Guys transformer

@@COASTALWAVESWIRES hey thanks for the reply. Iv been watching a few of your other videos and absolutely love the fact you can talk to people so far away with such "simple" antennas. My only dilemma is I can't decide what one would be best. From the loop antennas to your random wire antennas with baluns and ununs to this style and the long wire out the window style like you have in eruope, what would be the best Multi band antenna you have come across that is portable?
@COASTALWAVESWIRES2 жыл бұрын
@@HangryGiant that’s a hard question to answer but I would say an End Fed Half Wave (66’ long) is the one antenna I would have if I could only have one antenna up and I had the space.
@HangryGiant2 жыл бұрын
@@COASTALWAVESWIRES do you have a link for the video I tried looking but couldnt find it. Or could you describe the basic idea for me, thanks. 73.
@HangryGiant2 жыл бұрын
@@COASTALWAVESWIRES to elaborate on my question a bit what I am asking is, is the 66' long wire vertical in the air or horizontal? Is it a balun or a unun that it goes into? And how long would the couterpoise be. Looking online it seems to be about 15-20% of the antenna?
