Girlypop viewer here: I was diagnosed with PCOS and Endometriosis earlier this year after being in excruciating pain for the last two years. I immediately had to have surgery to remove a cyst the size of a golf ball. It’s insanely easy to spiral because it affects so many portions of your life completely unrelated to menstrual health. Girlypops go to the gyno, it can save your life!!

QT!!! I have PCOS and they tried to put me on weight loss meds that made me sick. If you can find a Dietician who specializes in PCOS that’s what helped me. She tested my hormones and helped me balance them with supplements and diet. Sooo many people have PCOS and it is manageable I promise! ❤

I feel QT so much on this! To me, women's health is treated in such a convoluted way. I was diagnosed with PCOS around age 15 when I was missing my period for months. When I did get my period I would bleed for a MONTH straight. None of the doctors I've had have really done anything to help it other than prescribe me birth control. The diagnosis even led me to assume that pain attacks in my lower abdomen were just my ovaries and that I had cysts or something. Later I found out I was having regular appendicitis episodes for years which just led to my appendix exploding because I was brushing them off for so long.

QT!!! get a second opinion about PCOS. it’s kind of crazy the gyno is operating off the assumption you have PCOS without doing a hormonal test to confirm. also crazy for the gyno to immediately try and medicate because the goal at first is to try and manage symptoms with diet, exercise etc
@boneharvester51 минут бұрын
I thought the same thing, that gyno sounds like she just wanted to get her out of the office on medication ASAP. QT never reads the comments but it sounds like shes getting a second opinion from with bloodwork which is good
@WhereTheHellIsMyLifeGoing8 минут бұрын
she mentioned that she is getting a 2nd one! it’s honestly always good advice. also for things like stray thicker chin hairs, she’s not alone at all. it happens to many many women starting in their mid-late 20’s and it can be totally normal or can be a sign/symptom of PCOS or a hormonal imbalance. obviously they’re the doctor, but to simply go straight to a lifelong medication feels worthy of multiple inputs.
@self.construction.day17 минут бұрын
I think if you can afford it / live in a country where it's an option at no extra cost, getting a second opinion is always essential whenever you see a doctor or dentist these days.

Qt I’m so sorry to hear about your diagnosis. It’s never fun to get that kind of news! I also have endometriosis and pcos! My original gyno told me straight up that I should try to get pregnant to help with endo( insane I know). The next one I spoke with was almost a year later she immediately got me into surgery. It was a super quick day surgery and I was walking around at the mall the next day! The anesthesia is always scary but you got this girl! It sounds worse than it is I promise ❤️
@pugilismСағат бұрын
"get pregnant" as medical advice for ameliorating endo symptoms is crazy irresponsible wtf. i hate that. i'm glad you got a better doctor to actually offer help later, and super happy your surgery went as well as it did

As an EMT i gotta state that NO you do not go right in to a bed at the hospital for riding in an ambulance. you get triaged and Austin you must have been in a state that looked dire for them to get you right in. A big misconception is that you will get through the hospital faster with an ambulance ride.

Turns out I had massive blood clots in my lungs but they were like chill queen and after a bloodletting while trying to insert an IV during a minefield of speed bumps I settled down. The two awake surgeries were lit because I had this sweet motherly nurse who was a fentanyl feeder.
