Yep i used(non formal) one around the acreage during the apocalyptic heat wave in last summer. Compared with shorts and a tank top, a thobe or similar shirt is a sunshade with all the ventilation needed during a 40-50C(100-120F) historic heat wave. some non formal ones also seem to be the only way i can fall asleep during that kind lf heat wave. Now i see why men slept in similar garmants(gowns) in 1800s america before the advent of air conditioning.

Thank you for this! Mexican traveling to Qatar for the World Cup and I’ve always wanted to get me a thobe but did not want to come off as disrespectful. In our culture we don’t take it in any negative way when someone decides to wear a sombrero we embrace it as well. But knowing that we are on the same page culture wise of embracing other it puts me at ease 🙏🏻

I have always had a problem with wearing a thobe. The thing is I'm an artist and a Christian and always thought a thobe would be ideal to wear in the studio to keep clean especially in summer because it's hot in there. It's not a religious issue as I know Indian Christians who wear them, it's more of a case of seeing them as sort of sacred and it might be disrespectful to get it covered in paint.

I have come to the conclusion that pants and underwear crush our pelvis and insides. Togas come close to solving the pelvis problem, but are too heavy and start to crush the spine instead. From what I can tell, the best answer/solution is something similar to a thobe.
