I usually never comment on KZbin, but I have to say thank you for making these videos. They are very helpful and helped me pass my test the first time! I was so nervous at first because maths is not my thing at all (I want to teach English) but after studying these videos and practicing, I was able to complete the questions in time and felt more confident. So to whoever is panicking right now, calm down. You will pass. Just study these videos and practice!

Hi Andy, I just wanted to say that you have helped me enormously over the last two weeks and I passed my skills test today first time today. I bought books and found they just didn't explain things and I found myself doing the practice tests on one screen with your you tube explanations open on another tab. When I got stuck I just toggled to you and waited for you to talk me through it. I am amazed that I passed as I find working under pressure extremely difficult. Your metal maths methods and explanation of graphs and statistics got me through. Thank you sooo much, you are making a difference to so many peoples lives. Shame you don't do Literacy tutorials too as I have that next week!!!! Thanks again. You're amazing. x

Hi Andrew I'm bit confused about the question where the teacher had to fit all the appointment slots, i think its question 7 or 8, i understand all the steps you did to work out the answer but i feel there is so much to remember in that question. For the first day the teacher took 130 minutes to fill all the appointments and if we convert 130 minutes to hours, that's 2:10 minutes and we can simply add that to our starting time rather than all the steps that you done? Because if we add 2:10 minutes to our starting time which is 16:30 we still get the same answer which is 18:40. So isn't this an easier method.

I am a bit confused about question at 7:25. Why d you divide 24/210 and not 34/210? Also 21:43 it asks for 10 percentage points more, which I assumes 10% more, so why B,E,G are not correct answers?
@bethmckenna55496 жыл бұрын
Literally been years since you posted this and I’m using them to help me with my test which is coming up in a couple of days. I’m just slightly concerned that it is still the same practice tests that are being provided after five years... do they still match the actual tests? 😬

Question 9: Why in the first statement did you look at the mode and the second statement the range and then back to the mode in statement 3?
@luiscastro16306 жыл бұрын
Hi there, in question 9, a) you took the mode as your max. but if you look at the median, then we should assume some people got less than 72% since the median is 50% - same logic for c) - please correct me if I am wrong. Thanks a lot

hello. Just wondering, what happens if in Q9 we say, for example, that 72 (the mode) is not the highest mark? What if it is 60? Then take away range and it equals 10. So maybe 1 statement could be true?
@ganumerical191411 жыл бұрын
Hi, statement 1 of calculator section Q14 is not true as the percentage increase is 200%, not 50%. Remember in the questions where there are three statements you need to get all three correct to obtain the one mark available. How did your test go today?
@EllaMarie210 жыл бұрын
how long do you get for the calculator part of the test?
@lucijecurri74238 жыл бұрын
In the test 02 Q8 Why you did it so difficult and round like Magellan . 240 +40=280 mins, means 4 hours 40 mins. first evening 2:30 mins and second evening 2:10 mins So 16:30+2:10= 16:40
@lucijecurri74238 жыл бұрын
18;40

Hi Philippa, for now the pass mark is 18/28 but it is likely to increase to 19/28 from September 1st 2013. Nothing is confirmed yet however.

Hope you smash the test on Friday Sean! Post back and let me know how you get on.
@ganumerical191411 жыл бұрын
Hi, We are told the mode is 72 so cant use any value lower than this to be the max. It could be higher though, anywhere from 72 to 100. If the max mark was 75 then subtracting the range of 60 gives a min possible mark of 15 and thus no pupils scored less than 12. So whatever value the max value takes subtracting the range of 60 still gives a value of 12 or higher so the statement must be false. Hopefully that makes some sense! It’s a pathetic question though so don’t worry too much about it.
@pemillsy11 жыл бұрын
Is the pass mark still 18/28? Btw these videos have been so helpful, and the mental test ones as well :)

Hi Andrew, stupid question....in the mental arithmetic section can I jot things down?
@ganumerical191410 жыл бұрын
Hi, yes you are given pen and paper to make notes for use in both parts of the test. Make sure and ask for extra paper before you begin as there is no time to wait for them to give you more during the test.

Hi Andrew, I had my test on Saturday thought I was prepared but didn't pass. Any tips on how to increase my mental maths calculations, and question interpretation? (comprehension) I aim committed to passing this next time and have a whole week to prepare. I would be grateful for any and all suggestions and advice (but that does not cost me :))

Doing my maths skill test in two weeks time I just wanted to know if the vedios are outdated since the 2018 test may have come up with different types of questions compared to the above.? Thanks

GA Numerical I just sat my first maths skill test but sadly failed. Although I found your videos extremely helpful and gave me the confidence to face the exams. I found that the questions where very much different to the above. I feel as though they have introduced new styles of questions this year.

I'm confused. Why for question 9, is the mode 72%, necessarily the highest possible value? A pupil could have got 71%. If subtract the range from that it's 11%, therefore some pupils could have achieved less than 12%??
@bahmakmak5555555555511 жыл бұрын
has this increase been confirmed yet? (I'll be re-sitting it in Oct')

The Brussles to Ostend question is simpler, if you do this 5m =8km 50mph = 80kmph 120km distance 80km = 1hour / 40km = 30mins 80km +40km = 120km --- 1Hr 30mins.
