The easiest way to check if your oil is hot is to place the end of a wooden chopstick or wooden spoon into the oil. If it begins to form bubbles around them, the oil is hot enough.

Never heard of this fried oreos until just scrolling on KZbin. I'm from the Bahamas where we do our "conch fritters" similar like this with the frying in oil. This definitely reminds me of that
