17:11 - facts. my family is the same way. when we go back to taiwan, even though my parents and their siblings speak in mandarin, they will still use taiwanese through out the conversation, and when shit really goes down that they don't want us to understand or they need to say something "bad", they will revert to hakka. when they speak in hakka, that's when i know something has really pissed them off. of course, on top of all of this, they will throw in some english here in there because it's just part of their vernacular now. even my aunt, who has only left taiwan a few times, she uses random english words here and here because that's just what they did at work also. this is just part of the culture.
