YES. I’m in French for High School right now, and it’s really difficult doing the accent for some of the words. But I’m very proud I know French!

It sounds so silly, but this clip genuinely changed my life. I was always super afraid to leave comments in english and engage with content, because I was afraid to make mistakes which would cause people to be mean to me. But this finally gave me the courage to change that. And now my english has improved so much in a short amount of time and I LOVE leaving comments. Also I have been learning spanish as my third language for half a year now and have even left a few comments in spanish already.

Here's my language learning journey so far: I'm neither english nor spanish. I started studying english before even starting primary shcool. When I started middle school my parents wanted me to study German and so I was enrolled in a German language school. I also studied Russian for a while as a secondary language. It didn't really work out for both languages, I didn't particularly like either and would avoid anything to do with those classes, simply scraping by for passing grades. Then in high school I decided to continue on with language learning (mainly because I didn't know what else to pursue yet) and enrolled myself into an English-Spanish school. This was the period during which I refined my English, since I was already somewhat comfortable with it but never really spent time on understanding the particularities of the language and its subtleties before that. Spanish in my eyes was definitely an upgrade from German and Russian, but at the time I didn't really put any real effort into it, I was kind of burned out on foreign language study at that point, with the exception of English. I was friends with the teacher though and I found the classes generally fun and enjoyable. Surprisingly, Spanish stayed with me after graduating, and in the following years I had been feeling this subtle but increasing urge to return to Spanish. I did sign up for a 1 semester-long spanish course here in college (unrelated to my major) but it felt really robotic and I still didn't do great. This was probably the reason why another couple years down the line I was still feeling this dissatisfaction with my lack of involvement with the language. This year I finally decided to incorporate Spanish into my daily life, the same way as English. I started with Duo Lingo, just to remember what was what, and then quickly moved on to making decks of flash cards, reviewing conjugation tables, trying to mentally narrate my actions in Spanish, trying to speak / write in Spanish wherever I can, rewatching shows in spanish, reading books in spanish, watching hispanic youtubers and streamers, joining the english-spanish learning discrod server, etc. And the language finally started to come alive for me, and not be this sterile academic thing that existed in the bubble of a university course. Big Q's spanish streams are really handy because unlike books and movies and even KZbin, they aren't narrated, they are very authentic and natural - the humor, the reactions, the intonation, the gestures, the expressions - everything. I dunno man, I just really love Spanish for some reason, this language is so amazing to me.

I love this advice. I am bilingual as well Spanish being my first language and English being my second language, but Spanish is a language that I struggle with a lot. Though I have gotten better with the help of my Spanish classes in school, I don’t think I’ll ever get close to the level of a Mexican that was raised in Mexico. I’m a Mexican that was raised in America. So of course my Spanish isn’t really Spanish but Spanglish. I do wish that I could use slang that they use in Mexico like my parents do, but I feel like I’m not cool enough lmao. There’s some slang that I’ve gotten used to now but yeah. I’m proud that I’ve gotten better and I don’t hesitate to speak Spanish now. But I won’t lie that insecurity is there still. Sometimes it’s a strong feeling and sometimes it’s very small that it doesn’t affect me. Anyways uh yeah I think you guys get the point of this unnecessary paragraph lmao.
