Interesting comparison. Long time Fractal user never got to try a QC. I'm hearing a lot more prominent midrange on the QC which would help it stand out and cut more. I've definitely had to fight the Fractal being too scooped and hi-fi sounding. I think you can get around it in the EQ though.

I'm a former fractal user that move to QC due to capture capability and easier tweak in stage. In many cases I really wish that QC has the routing flexibility like in Fractal, unlimited possibility on assigning footswitch function, has an option to deep tweak on component modelling, list of effects that sounds phenomenal like in Fractal. if only Fractal going to have user interface like the QC and capture capability, I definitely will go back to Fractal :) Most Important: Thank you for share all of your tips and tricks on QC, super helpful!

This. I think most people don't need the deep editing capabilities of the Fractal, but having them doesn't hurt, as long as the UX doesn't suffer. Unfortunately, it suffers greatly right now. Let's be honest. Fractal's UX is terrible. QC and now TMP are miles ahead. For me, there are 2 main things regarding UX I think Fractal needs to improve and that's 1) easier editing with physical knobs (like QC and TMP) and 2) group amp channels into a single amp, the amp list is huge and just weird since it has even modes of specific channels as separate "amps", making it difficult to combine certain modes (ex Friedman BE100 C45 switch engaged + the SAT switch engaged).

yes, Reducing the time gap when doing a channel switching will be also become a big improvement for Fractal - hope they read our comments here :D @@Tanax13

been using an FM3 for a year, tried out a QC recently, so i guess I tried going in the other direction =) i really missed the extra options/features when trying out the QC and i'm not a fan of touch screens for everything, there is an editor now to try out, i might explore again at some point , the QC definitely has boatloads of horsepower in any case For Fractal, don't be afraid to explore the extra pages that are on offer here, to further tweak and refine effects and also amp/cab etc.. in the other page for the pitch block you can set the tracking for example, can also EQ in there with low/hi cut, makes a lot of difference, same goes for Delays/Reverb etc etc.. some effects can sound 'fatter' in parallel, e.g the pitch block used as an octaver before an amp the extra pages on the amp block make a huge difference to feel/tone, it can seem daunting at first, but there's some great features on there to say tighten things up (Input EQ) get more of that natural speaker drive/compression to taste etc etc..

You wanna use the virtual capo for the pitch block on the FM3 if you're trying to tune down or up.

QC user here. Do you still have the FM3? Could you compare the models of the Diezel VH4 Channel 3 of both units? That would be epic. If it's too specific, maybe compare a couple of amps. Plexi, some Fender, AC30, Dual Rectifier, 5150, SLO100 ... let me know what you think. If you make a video, let me know, I might have some specific settings for the Diezel :o)

I'm a QC guy, so take this for what it's worth. I prefer the QC in terms of user experience. And I like the ability to go out to the cloud and search for captures of pretty much any amp or drive pedal I can think of. It's a great cure for my G.A.S. and I think the new release is finally fulfilling done of the promises made early on. Don't get me wrong, there's still aspects to the Fractal that I wish the QC had (did a whole video on that). But I'm riding with the QC.

Great video as usual - I would be interested to see how the higher gain tones compare .. like the 2203 on the QC .. I find them a bit mushy on the QC

I just found this Video ... as a QC User I am quite shocked how much more like an amp the fractal sounds😮 The drive and fx are also a step up to my ears. If only I could get used to the stupid interface ....

Yeah, the whole time I had the FM3, I never once tried to figure out the interface on the device itself. Just used the desktop app.

​@@davlavmusic7070yeah i just dont get why they do not invest in proper ux...After a second Listen.... the Sound is really much more realistic, the mids could be boosted if wanted. The original is not that mid heavy tho..... i had one before ging digital

No slap back or delay on my FM9, Something is wrong with your unit or setup. Same pitch block and effect tested.

Try to re enter zeros in both delay knobs. maybe it got a bad midi entry.

Maybe it's the FM3? That's what I'm running. Maybe the FM9 has more processing power.

It was just painful to see you not select virtual capo as that’s the obvious choice for that type of effect. The rest of the video was great!

Thanks for that. I'm still finding my way on the fractal. My thinking is that sometimes folks can learn from me fumbling around and making mistakes. I'll give the capo a try.
