2:56 the AKS-74U is in the AR category actually make sense compared to putting it in SMG category. Its technically a Carbine which is a Rifle but shorter, as far as i'm aware of its a shorter and more compact version of the AK-74.

@@lieutenantbawls It's definitely one of the more in-between firearms out there, but 5.45 (the calibre it's chambered in) is a intermediate cartridge, so many consider the 74u to be an assault rifle. Some disagree, saying it's role is that of an smg or pdw, and citing it's relative small size. Depends who you ask, honestly, but most consider it an assault rifle.

the AKS74U is more similar to a carbine than a pdw irl because of it's caliber. PDWs are smaller guns for sure but they also have smaller bullets like 9mm, the AKS74U is loaded in 5.45x39, main reason why it's in the assault rifle category.

PDWs are chambered in effectively scaled down intermediate cartridges, so typically less than 6mm. The AKS74U comes under the PDW category. In theory. In real life terms carbine and PDW are separate things, PDWs are by design "weapons designed for security and protection outside of infantry and warfare" Carbines by definition are a long rifle converted over to a shorter barrel (and other accessories) like the M16 over to the M4, the M16 is a full sized assault rifle, whilst the M4 is the carbine of the M16 The Glock kit is a grey area, if the barrel is lengthened and shoulder stock is added, by definition it becomes a carbine. But just adding a stock wouldn't in my eyes change the definition of the Glock 18 outside a machine pistol. If the kit is one like I am thinking of where it transforms and shrouds the pistol fully, then yes I'd refer to it as a carbine. Caliber for PDWs isn't a hard and fast rule for defining the gun as a PDW. As some PDWs were designed out the gate to fire 9mm for example. It's definition comes down to the manufacturer and intended use, emphasis on intended. Some ally spec ops soldiers out there have used PDWS in warfare im sure. Hopefully this makes sense. And if incorrect hopefully someone can chime in and correct.

The AK74u (or the AKS74u for the gun nerds) is in the AR category because it’s basically an AK-105 (in this game Kastov 545) with a shortened barrel and still chambered in 5.45x39mm.

2:58 The reason why it's in the AR category is because it is still an AR. 5.45 is a rifle cartridge, same shot by the standard AK74. An SMG shoots pistol ammo, eg. 9mm, 45 or 5.7. Reason why it was always an SMG is because before MW19 (or if your Treyarch), COD wasn't exactly known to put much effort into any detail whatsoever, & since the 74u is a short looking weapon, a game devs eyes just see a SMG for the gameplay. I thank IW for finally fixing this issue to stop it from hurting my slight gunnut brain everytime I see it mislabelled.

3:00 The Kastov 74u is the AK- 74u, which is a carbine variant or short variation of the AK-74. The "U" stands for "Ukorochenniy", which in Russian, means Short or shortened. So its name mean AK-74 Short. It's still a rifle caliber weapon (using 5.45×39, essentially Russian 5.56), so it's still an "assault rifle". It's not TECHNICALLY the right term, but for a COD game, it's close enough. Any other gun experts feel free to correct anything I said if I got something wrong.

Quick fix is definitely what I'm going to run on basically every class once I unlock all the perks and can customize stuff. It's so good because of how bad the normal health regen delay is. It takes like 5 whole seconds just to get health back.
