You know I didn't expect to see the perspective of someone that passed away rather than the perspective of someone who is mourning a loss. "I didn't mean to haunt you" is literal. He is watching as his mother mourns and tries to move on, but is struggling to. This is amazingly produced and such clever writing. Full props to you Quad.

I’m a 42 year old man. A single song has never broken me down as much as this has. Not only am I having a major pressure release in the form of crying but the absolute emotions this brought on so many levels has opened my eyes. I have never witnessed such creative honesty in an art form. I’ve never been so touched by something. Chills… tears… lyrical beauty and talent. A life change moment for me here.

Everybody getting these theories backwards. In this song it isn't about Quad missing his dead mother. It's about DEAD Quad missing his ALIVE mother. The album is titled "I didn't mean to haunt you" and homie is legit dressed like a damn ghost. WAKE UP PEOPLE. It's a unique take on a song about losing a family member from a reversed perspective. The lines "I've been in so many tears... I've been in so many prayers... etc." It's literally about him having to witness people mourn his death while he's a ghost. And if that wasn't enough for you, he also says, "I got new birthday to celebrate" This is his birth into the afterlife, also referred to as rebirth by many. Still not enough for you? He deadass says, "I've been trying to unsee how you moved on from me." He's watching his mother move on from mourning his death. The main chorus of "I wasn't born yesterday, I think you're goddamn lying" is about him watching his mother cope with his death and pretend she is okay. But Quadeca isn't stupid, he knows his mother is hurting and he knows that she is lying to herself and everyone else. This isn't me grasping at straws either he legit says, "You said it happened for a reason, I swear to God, I think you're goddamn lying". He knows that his mother isn't okay. But he still has to watch her mourn his death from the great beyond.

@Lil Max I know you didn't ask me but I listened to on the low. It has a decent sinister sounding beat with a catchy chorus. The verses sound kinda like Joyner Lucas but with a unique spin. It’s an awful song. It was intentionally stretched out over 6 minutes and made as experimental as possible, but more experimental doesn’t= better. The music video was very good, fantastically shot, but the song? Some decent lyrics, but some very poor ones. Interesting themes throughout as well, but there is just no cohesive elements to the track which lets it all down. It’s extremely messy and not in a way which improves the song. Take Kanye- Runaway for example, that’s a 9 minute track that uses up every second of its runtime. It’s different and unique but everything feels like one and it all needs to be there, this track doesn’t provide that same concept.

After having this song stuck in my head for almost a month now I think I've realized something about the song I didn't before. Quadeca didn't just die. He killed himself. He popped a vein and he made a wish. He made a dayplan that he should have delayed and he cut is wrists and dies, and now all he wants is out. He's seeing everyone's grief after his death and seeing how hard it's taken a toll on everyone but most importantly his mother. It gives this song an ever deeper layer of sadness cause it was Quadeca's actions that caused this and he has to witness everyone's pain after his loss. This has quickly grown to be my #1 favorite song of all 2022. Such an amazing song and music video. Can't wait for the album!

This song was amazing. You can hear his thoughts spiralling and the pain in his voice towards the start, trying to come to terms with it all, the disconnect between some of the melodies and the instrumental, mirroring the distance now between them. Then the moment he comes to terms with his emotions, realising how much he needed her, the laughing when she went away turns to crying, and the regret settles in. Truly one of the greatest artists and songs i’ve ever listened to. I’m excited to see more of your journey quad. It means so much to me and many others, thank you.

The theory of him being a ghost and watching his mother move on from mourning him kind of makes me think about how 2 months ago I try to take my life, and just imagining not being around my family and them moving on from my death is an interesting perspective and it makes me happy that I'm still alive because now i get to live a full life with them and really cherish these moments together.
