I could imagine that if I had grown with Voice Memos it would definitely have stuck with me!

Although the majority of this album has aged horribly, you can definitely see the seeds of a legitimate artist. A lot of funny lines, decent songwriting at times, some good flows, bars, hooks, production and creativity with 1 or 2 songs that remain on my playlist to this day (Left Shoulder, These Days). For a 17yo KZbin rapper it was clear he was a cut above the rest. My 15yo self was all over this project and its nice to see an artist youve rooted for become great and get his flowers. Great reaction again :)

Why has it aged horribly. You can't ignore the fact that this released while he was in high-school. Name a better project from someone his age? And his KSI diss when I was a kid was legendary.

@@joshthompson8327 Voice Memos is very obviously a product of the time. Songs like Uh-Huh, War, Unusual are straight up corny reminisces of the yt rapper era. Songs like Ego Death and imagination literally scream 2018 Juice WRLD soundcloud era, both of these eras of music have aged like milk for the most part. Joey Bada$$ dropped 1999 at 17, theres one. No disrespect on VM, i got alotta love for it, like i said I was all over it as a kid, and i still even have a few songs on my playlist to this day

Dream I Cant Remember is my favorite quad song to this day. Nothing close.

Better delayed than never letting me know! Certainly a pretty damn great track, and especially for an interlude! I definitely feel that same melancholic bordering depressive tone in the lyrics. Production is undeniably great too!

I don't know if you've already listened to FMTY by quad, but you see alot more shades of the newer quad stuff whilst a fair share of the more rough and developing sound from this project. But for the most part the writing is better than this album as well as more of a hands on on the production (i think fully self produced and mastered by Mike G?) so the songs sound alot of quad per se rather than the kind of yt rapper sound that voice memos has. Great reaction vid dude!

Mike G as in Odd Future Mike G, also battle rapper Mike G? That is awesome if so! I am definitely going to hit up FMTY shortly here and have some pretty high hopes for it!

i will say i love this album for what it is i think its not as good as his last 3 projects but i listen to left shoulder, red dot, uh huh, and a dream i cant remember still a lot but i think ur criticisms are well thought out for stuff like red dot so i personally wouldve loved to hear why you didnt like uh huh maybe the corniness but i dont see corniness as a negative but i understand how other people do dax just a gifter at one point he was an up and comer with quite a bit of talent tho.

fast rap still cool sometimes like ski mask is a dude who can do it well i think quad was pretty good at it too and he never used it as a crutch

@@g33p61 Thank you so much for checking this out and leaving a comment! I also really appreciate the critique as it will help me improve my content to come! To go a little deeper into Uh Huh! I get the feeling that the impressiveness of the song is meant to be derived from the bars themselves hence the intro of laughing at the beat. However, in my opinion the bars themselves are pretty mediocre at best and are not a part of any larger narrative throughout the project. Quite simply, it is just a short flexing rap song which is fine but really just isn't my cup of tea. I certainly can understand the appeal of this style of rapping and have definitely consumed a bunch in my previous years (I did have Hoodie Allen on my Ipod Touch). Lastly, I will defiantly say in reference to Dax I don't think he is the worst offender in modern rap but he does certainly earn his reputation over the years. This is far from his worst performance but I also looking back in retrospect with all I know about his music. I still remember when he first came up doing the cover of Hit Em Up. Again, thanks for the comment and hope to see you stick around!

@@JakeisFake420 yeah thats fair fs "yall are so plain/plane that shit terminal" is the only bar that really sticks with me and its still not super crazy but pretty creative for me i see it as kinda like a ski mask song in the way hes just having fun thats why i love it and thats the way i interpreted the laughing at the beat i see beamin' and guess who as better versions of that style for quadeca though

I understand if you don’t like Dax’s music but to call him a grifter with no evidence kind of makes you look stupid.
