Out of a ton of videos I've watched the last 3 days trying to sync everything with the high idle cam and setting it up, you by far have the most straight to the point and step by step out there explaining and showing how to atleast get a baseline, props buddy, you made me a happy camper tonight, atleast got it idling now to be able to do fine tuning on it, TY

Thanks a lot for the video, I appreciate it! Watching from Belgium. My '86 Caprice with the electric choke starts right up, but then idles very high, and stays there for almost 5 minutes before the fast idle will drop down to a lower step. To reach the lowest step (curb idle?) it takes almost 10 minutes in total (!). Once it gets there, it seems to run pretty good. This is in cool temperatures, but not freezing or anything. I believe my choke and choke pull off are set correctly. What could cause this? Is it the high idle cam being too tight perhaps? You'd think that, with such a high idle for 5+ minutes, it should come down easily, but it won't for some reason. It makes starting up the car pretty darn stressful.

Could be that the linkage is gunked up a bit hindering the process (cam kick-down). Check all the electrical connections and wiring to make sure there are no frayed wires or anything. Sounds likes it working, so it shouldn't be too hard to find the culprit. Thanks and best of luck

It's best if you have it on and working (especially in colder climates), but many people leave it off. And thank you!

You adjust the divorced choke by bending the rod that runs from the choke to the carb linkage. Of course, this assumes that the bimetallic spring that operates the coil hasn't lost tension over the last half a century. The arm on the carb linkage that the choke rod goes into has a series of notches. The CSM shows you how to bend the rod using those notches as a guide to adjust the choke. Of course, this assumes the rest of the carb has been set up to the appropriate clearances (like the choke plate adjustment).

My fast/high idle cam stopped coming on during the cold starts. As soon as I crank it the car goes to curb idle. Not sure if it needs a rebuild..

You may just need to clean and lubricant the arms. Sometimes, they get debris or grime in it(around) it and won't let it function properly. Or maybe the seal needs replacing 🤔. Hope that's of some help to you
