Well done Chris! You've got to be the most patient (and talented) person on KZbin. Yeah, it's good to do something for other people, spread a bit of happiness...

He's certainly *persistent*. And that is ultimately what it takes for repairs that bring things back to useful life.

Sorry Chris. I watch your videos out of order sometimes. So, very glad to hear you beat Corona and you’ve recovered ok. Also, any real Amiga fan knows you are a giver - unquestionable - we all learn so much and the hours you put in are incredible. A big thank-you once again.

Well done Chris, damn plcc sockets, maybe the buster requires a new socket as well, had this happen a few times myself, thought the chip was toast, and it was the socket in the end. Did you test the suspect buster in another machine?

I did it in the video

@@ChrisEdwardsRestoration Must have missed that bit or maybe it ended up on the cutting floor,.

I told you it was Buster less than 2 minutes into the video. Twas the blinking and the way that data crapped on the screen.

I was thinking with my buttons and studently I realised something important! I believe I know why the Amber chips are going to crap! They must have dinosaur flies stuck inside them! You need some sort of bug bomb that manages to dissolve them bugs from inside Amber!

I think they are just 30+ years old and sometimes fail but your idea is funny :)

You are hardcore Chris, desoldering all that with a solder sucker! I would of lost my mind doing it that way haha. I can feel the pain you went thru to fix it..wow! I had guessed it was a zip ram problem from Tim's original Diagrom output,but look what it ended up being in the end! Might be a good idea to add a coin cell and set the nvram with setbatt.lha so scsi has proper settings. i also check Diode D800? is it on tower,the term power diode,often blown or shorted. Nice work.

Since you're more in tune with original hardware, have you considered getting a romulator? There's also another one that I can flash via serial. It would allow you to have one rom chip that could basically handle anything you'd ever need.
@ChrisEdwardsRestoration2 жыл бұрын
I have one
@a4000t2 жыл бұрын
I always test with real roms,I've found some of these flashrom solutions can introduce oddities when troubleshooting a machine. Also,some of these flashrom boards have wrong sized pins and stretch the rom sockets to where a real rom no longer makes good contact.
