This is awesome Jay. I was at Le Ombres back in 2013, I went for dinner all by myself and I was treated so nicely that I already made reservations to go back in April with my kids! The view is amazing and at night you can see the tower lighting up! Back in 2013 I went to the museum first then I climb up to the restaurant. I am glad to see you made it there! Thank you for sharing 😊

We stumbled upon this museum accidentally last year and I like it a lot. I loved the different cultures and artifacts that was displayed.

Yes, I was a little bit disappointed when visited this museum. It was written Oceania on the big glass window and you can imagine what I expected, but inside there was one hall with some stones and one big like a wallpaper/ billboard with the text Oceania. Circled 3 times to find something oceanic but nope. Or maybe 4th time needed.

A lot of the artifact belonging to Australia and New Zealand have actually been slowly given back (like I said in the comment section the Quai Branly museum was created to gather the items of our collections that have been acquired in less than stellar fashion and by dubbious means . The "conservateurs" of the place are not just tasked to organise expositions but are also task to be the interlocutors with whom those items originally belonged to should they wish to have them back ... And well Australia and New Zealand are asking them back a lot actually . And when it comes to items of Kanak culture well they went back to New Caledonia . Same for items belonging to Wallisian and Futunian culture.

Museo del Prado in Madrid won't allow neither filming nor photos and is a huge museum. Kind of stupid, if you ask me when something like the Louvre that is 10 times in size will let you film or take all the photos you want, and don't tell me because things are too old there. There is nothing older than what you can find at the Louvre. But, sigh. Nothing we can do, can we? At least you got a nice lunch with the Iron Lady... Lovely place.

Thank you Jay for your, as always, interesting take on life’s simple frustrations. I am glad you went for the lunch even at those prices. You need to do that on occasion. My first trip to Paris was last May and I fell in love with the city. Booked my ticket to return for last week of October. Looking forward to seeing/experiencing more of Paris. Will stay in the 5th this time. Using your guide and mapster again. 🤩👍

I cracked up at “cheesy poofs.” 😂🤣😂🤣 Yeah, I went to a thing at the Quai Branly. The garden is really nice and to see all of the native art is a study in other cultures. The thing I went to was an exhibit about racism in art, and it was depressing. Necessary to see (we can avoid the errors of the past if we’re aware of them), but a bummer. It is an interesting museum and I liked the Instastories and selfies in this video! 😂

I definitely think the important part for us now is to build and maintain awareness of our past and how we mistreat each other - I totally agree. Maybe I'll revisit it with permission next time ;)

Quai Branly Museum means just one thing to me ……..I've got to pee, I've just got to pee! I was right at that entrance but it is so obscure I kept walking on towards the Eiffel Tower. Wish had gone in now, it would have been easier on my bladder.

By its very theming (and also because of how some of those items have been acquired in the past ) like you said yourself the place feels very off , because it bears a vibe of nasty cultural appropriation , and you'd think that they would you know do their absolute best to mitigate that feeling , and letting people film inside would contribute to that , while acting as a walled garden (yes pun intended) does a complete disservice to this idea . TLDR : rest assured you're not the first one who voiced some criticisms against not bein able to film inside in the past and you sure as hell won't be the last ;) ( just so you know side little note the collections of Quai Branly has been created specifically so that cultures who wants their items back would have somebody to talk to so that the process could be engaged peacefully so the reason for the creation of the museum is not only to display those items but also to gather in one spot items that we might have to give back at some point . Hence why for example the japanese and korean collections in the museum of asian heritage are not moved to the Quai Branly all the remaining item have been acquired through gifts and diplomatical and cultural relationship bonding events )
