I love the long videos. This was an excellent job on what I think is a complicated movement. I know many professional clock repairers refuse to do Cuckoos especially Cuckoo/Quails! I will be watching both parts several times especially part 2. Where can I get the pivot tool you used to cut down the proud pivots? Good luck with the new arrival! Thanks for doing this. I really appreciate it. It was VERY thorough.

This is an excellent video - clear and thorough explanation of all of the steps, great closeup camera angles, discussion of the problems you encountered, explanation of how to pop out the ratchet wheel on the bird side to reposition it so the lifter wasn't pushing on the gong when it locked, using a pin vise to hold a drill bit for drilling a hole in the bellows top. I want to pass on three tips that you might find useful: 1) from Scotty on Scotty's Clock World - when he installs a new taper pin, after he cuts the new taper pin to length he puts it in a pin vise and uses a file to clean up the ends just to make it a little neater 2) instead of installing the hooks on the chains when the movement is on a test stand, I would just use an unbent paper clip or an S hook to hang the weight on - saves wear and tear on bending chain links on and off 3) when cleaning the movement I use a piece of dental floss to tie together all the wheels and other parts (barrels, barrel covers, ratchet wheels, click springs, etc) from each train so that they stay together in the ultrasonic cleaner - might have saved you some trouble mixing up the two warning wheels (but good job diagnosing that this was causing your problem). This is a complicated movement and it is very impressive that you got it working. Thank you for posting this and I will probably watch it again.

Hey Paul! Thank you for the detailed feedback. It is very helpful. Good tip on the taper pin clean up. I will use that. I actually do have s hooks and I tend to forget about them! And lesson learned on the warning wheels. 👍

Hi again I failed to mention the movement I have just needs to be checked and tested. It has been cleaned ,ultrasound ,and pivots are polished

Great videos very helpful.. My quail clock runs fine Ckockoo door needs more snap to it. it doesn't close all the way. The problem I['m having is when I turn the hands manually everything is fine but when it goes on its own the quail will not stop. As of this moment, I am trying a lighter weight to see what that does. Do you have any suggestions?
