This man's passion is infectious. I too am a passionate quail lover, it's more than just hunting, even eclipses the beauty of bird dogs, for without birds our beautiful pointers & setters would not be in our lives. I started the conservation group " Quail Tomorrow " here in South Australia because if we don't do something today we risk having Quail Tomorrow. Our primary game species is the Stubble quail a true quail (coturnix pectoralis) that is extremely nomadic. It can be literally in millions in a year of summer rain or totally non existent in the same district, so we are really at the mercy of climatic conditions, just like you drought is our nemesis. However, when the interior of the continent dries out we often get wonderful hunting in the temperate south. Quail hunters in South Australia are so few as to have no effect on the overall population. This season started mid February and will end in mid August with a bag limit of 25 per day. So far we have shot very few due to late breeding we had many large bevies of young birds early in the season, great for dog training, now we are starting to harvest them. I also have a few strong coveys of Brown quail on my training property that are a sedentary species that behave exactly like your Bowhites, this has allowed me to manage the habitat and predators which has dramatically increased their numbers. Brown quail are not on the game list in my state due to over development of their preferred habitat which is the wetter part of our state, but they are a reliable dog training resource and I just love their call and explosive covey rise. The satisfaction of managing their environment and seeing the results is beyond description. All the best, I really love your KZbin clips for the information and entertainment. Cheerio, Bob

Steve Snell has an interesting way of calling his dogs off of birds he missed. Aaaaggghhhh!!!! Gundog Supply is a great company and I have enjoyed giving them my business in the past. Recently I had a dog with cancer and had to remove a toe. I bought a ultralight paw medical boot from them and received it in a few days. Great service, that helped relieve some worries I had about getting that surgery infected. Thanks Steve Snell...

Is there any Public Land in Texas?
@AmericanaOutdoors16 жыл бұрын
Yes but not a lot Phillip You can find some access via TPWD website, drawings as well as some corp, federal lands and elsewhere but you'll need to research it. It's been said that less than 2% of Texas is available for public hunting but we can't confirm that. Good luck
