Even though Romero was disappointed by his own creation back in the 90's, he plays deathmatch anyways.

Can confirm, this is the John Romero playing. Watched this demo back in the day when it was released. Quite a ruckus that Romero lost and when it turned out Killcreek was a girl made it even better :) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stevie_Case

Killcreek whooped Romero’s ass so hard, then he hired her AND asked her out. That’s like two gamer fantasies in one that she pulled off.

I like the look of Quake. Looks better than the latest games with all its bloated effects all over the screen like Overwatch.

I agree. I think the world moved in the wrong direction with all the gpu's hype in the late 90s. Software rendered Quake is still super cool and it looks better the older it gets -- kinda like old DOS 2d games. Pixel art in the purest form.

Wild to think Romero, the legend himself, wouldn't be able to kill me once in Quake. I still play QE and QC though... so there's that
@Usammityduzntafraidofanythin Жыл бұрын
The close quarters don't really play to the strengths of a game like quake, so much as in doom. Quake is an arena shooter, where reflexes and planned movement are the key skill. Whereas in doom, it's more about just knowing the map and what's around the corner, and knowing where to go in the map (the ability to actually SEE a map adds to the appeal of exploration in Doom) - the most fun I had with doom was when I first began playing on hurt me plenty, when it felt more like a survival FPS.
