Shain "Raffer" Hendrisson is an icelandinc Quake Live Legend of Moldovan descent.
In russian tradition, you become a true Quake Master only when you beat an aimbot in duel, such masters are called "Coollers".
Here is Raffer becoming a Cooller.

imo the games with the highest skill ceiling are also those were you cant really cheat and even if you do, youll get beaten by a player with a deep understanding of the game.

I just wanted to add this so that some people who haven't played much FPS would understand. An "aimbot" is generally a hack used by a human player. My understanding (from watching a ton of demos and reading forums, NOT cheating :P) is that some players will set the aimbot to a low field-of-view (FOV) so that their aim only snaps to the other player when their crosshair is within this narrow FOV AND they fire the weapon. By having a narrow FOV the aimbot doesn't activate until your crosshair is close enough to see the opponent within the FOV. This disguises the last snapping motion of the crosshair to the opponent and makes it look like normal aim instead of an aimbot. If the opponent is not in the FOV, then the bot doesn't kick in and you fire where your shitty aim was aiming at. Which would explain a few of the shots by the aimbot player in this video. The aimbot still takes some timing and basic aiming to use, but if you have half-way decent aim it can make you perfect. The youtube description seems to imply that the aimbot was planned, but some of the comments within the video say the other guy was cheating. Just FYI.

It was also his lg tracking that gave it away because it tended to follow the hitboxes center of mass and didn't deviate at all if raphas motion was continuous. A normal player might still hit the same accuracy but his crosshair is generally going to move around relative to the opponent even if it's still hitting the hitbox. Only exception would be if you strafe aim where you don't move your mouse at all. But even in those cases one would often have to make slight corrections with the mouse while tracking depending on how the opponent moves.

@@SpocksBro Old comment but this 100 times. With aimbot the crosshair LOCKS onto a point of the hitbox, with normal human aim even if you hit 60% LG, the corsshair will be sliding up and down and all over the hitbox

Definitive proof that we're never going to see "aim prodigies" winning anything again until rapha retires. Perfect rail, perfect LG, decent movement, still gets outbrained.
@vergilasmr9009
@vergilasmr9009 8 жыл бұрын
The aimbotter also doesn't time items, and his positioning is shit, which are really important factors in duel. Also you cannot aimbot rocket launcher, which is 1/3 of the most important weapons with LG and Railgun.
@stayin91degrees
@stayin91degrees 8 жыл бұрын
you could calculate their distance from you and then calculate a distance value ahead of them based on that distance and the speed in which they are moving, but you couldn't factor in strafing. if the enemy switched movement direction after the rocket shot was calculated and shot ahead, it would miss anyway. it could still work some of the time (when they are moving at a consistent direction and speed), but still not that often
@SuckItLily
@SuckItLily 8 жыл бұрын
You CAN aimbot rockets, just play against a "fast reaction time nightmare" bot that likes to use rockets, that'll give you an idea. Basically, up close every shot is a direct. Also when you take a big drop they'll easily midair you as you can't dodge while dropping. At a distance they're worse than your average human player because they don't understand where you want to go, only where you are currently going. Rocket aimbot would be extremely helpful for midairs and close range.
@vergilasmr9009
@vergilasmr9009 8 жыл бұрын
Fair enough, you can somewhat aimbot rockets. But like you said, aimbot doesn't help with carefully placed spam rockets for example, which are critically important in a duel. Also raphas bad ping here probably helped him a bit, because the hitscan bot couldn't hit so well thanks to the lag.
@stayin91degrees
@stayin91degrees 8 жыл бұрын
Field of View like you just said, the enemy needs to be falling in the air or be right next to you for aim bot rockets to be effective. I already stated that they needed to be moving at a consistent speed and direction for the bot to predict where to shoot ahead; that's what falling is; moving in a consistent speed and direction. Any other scenario, ie, when the enemy is not moving in a completely consistent direction and speed for a long period of time, or are not right on top of you, then an aim bot rocket would not be effective. Additionally, if the enemy was relatively intelligent and noticed the aim bot, they would only have to make small changes to their playstyle to completely thwart the rocket prediction by not being predictable and always changing direction.

Personally I think hacks can be great learning tools. They can allow you to focus on improving one specific element. I don't use them and never have, but I can see a benefit to them. Wallhacks are great for learning where an opponent might want to go after battles. Aimbots are good for learning positioning. Triggerbots are good for crosshair placement. I know most people would call me an idiot for saying that. But mastering skills is all about being breaking them down into specific components and individually focusing on those components. Then playing a real match is all about trying to combine them. If you focus on trying to master everything at once you'll get nowhere.
@TheVanillatech
@TheVanillatech 4 жыл бұрын
Hacks are not learning tools. Anyone using a hack is not improving at the game, they are improving at using the cheat. Take the cheat away and they are right back where they started before using the cheat. Evidence? Look at Survarium. The day BATTLEEYE was patched in unanounced every cheat stopped working. Players who were ranked top #100 and in all the "elite" clans suddenly went from 6:1 KDA per match to hiding under staircases and behind rocks and wondering what to do next. My KDA went from 2.4:1 to 5+ that week. The vast majority of hackers simply quit that game that day, leaving behind thousands of hours played and $1000+ investments in weapons and profiles. If what you said is true then they should have been able to still play well without hacks, yes? No. They couldn't even make a plan. They were frozen and full of fear and I beat them even harder than I did when they were hacking.
@highestsettings
@highestsettings 4 жыл бұрын
@@TheVanillatech Yep, I didn't say you should use hacks to compensate for lack of skill, I said they could be useful for practice because they can allow you to remove some of the many many elements that you need to think of when playing a duel. Where your opponents is, how much health and ammo you and your opponent has, the timings of items, the layout of the map and possible places to trap or be trapped. Man there is so much going on, it's no wonder these games are dying out. The people who have been playing these games constantly for 20+ years might as well be gods to new players. I'm not saying you should use hacks and not tell anybody, but maybe it'd be good to have like training wheels servers where everyone has aimbot/triggerbot so they can focus on situational awareness. Or wallhacks so they can focus on aim. Or infinite ammo/armour so they don't have to worry about item timings (maybe just get rid of the items instead?) These games are massively complicated and they have a huge learning curve as a result. If that learning curve isn't addressed arena shooters will die. Fuck even if they made bots that were really good like neural net ai bots that could set to very precise levels of skill in the key areas, then you could use the hacks to train without pissing other people off. Games are still young, especially eSports, as a result there isn't much in the way of training aids. All the ones that exist focus on aim, but there's so much more to it then that. Relying on aim alone isn't enough. Case in point just watch any q3/ql pro against a hacker. They STILL win even against people with perfect aim.
@TheVanillatech
@TheVanillatech 4 жыл бұрын
@@highestsettings No. The way to remove "elements you need to think of" is by playing the game and getting better. Practice, practice, practice. Playing vs faster, better, stronger and more skillful players makes you elevate your own game (unless you're a weak minded person lazy with no drive, in which case you will never reach a high level anyways). If you resort to using cheats then you are not learning or improving, you are standing motionless or going backwards, as your mental energy is used to try to "hide" that you are a lazy child minded loser to the world, instead of focusing that force on improving your game. Arena shooters have already died because gaming itself has changed. It's no longer about creative people making video games for others like them. It's about big business and big dollars. Casual games which are easier to play and more inclusive make more money. Fortnite, COD, Battlefield, TombRaider, Apex etc. Games with ridiculously high skill caps are dying. Complex mechanics RTS, Arena Shooters and whatnot are already dying. Fact is there are TWO kinds of people. Those who cheat, and those who don't. It's either in you or it isn't. It's a character thing. Shaolin beasts with integrity don't hack and, like Rapha, elevate themselves to godhood among gamers. The force is strong with him.

@@TheVanillatech I've been playing guitar for 13 years. I'm pretty fucking good at it if I do say so myself. Funnily enough I didn't get good by trying to play jazz on day one. I got good by learning how to strum a chord, then by learning how to change chords, then how to do them both at the same time. Then I learned how to strum at different note divisions. Then I learned how to mix note divisions to make rhythm patterns. Then I learned how to pick individual strings, then I learned how to change notes on individual strings, then how to swap strings. It goes on and on and on and on. I could have tried to learn flight of the bumblebee or something right from the beginning. But I doubt I would have gotten very far like that. People like rapha did learn the hard way. But why should everyone else? People would be able to get better faster. How is that a bad thing? You know how martial artists learn? They start with a single punch.
@TheVanillatech
@TheVanillatech 4 жыл бұрын
@@highestsettings There is no other way to learn how to get good at something. Hard work and practice. Talent is a much smaller factor. Rapha didn't exactly learn the hard way. He wasn't a pioneer. He came up after many others had done the groundwork from back in the late 90's. Every successive generation has the advantage of seeing what has already been learned. It's an emerging "sport". Technology also improves things. The days of 17" CRT's and Microsoft Intellimice are over. I already explained everything in a straightforward, no nonsense and logical fashion. If you still don't get it ... ah well. That will just be something you will have to learn later in life.
