The year is 1996. Shooters like Call of Duty, Battlefield, Halo even; those things didn't exist yet, and they weren't gonna for quite some time; PC gaming was a wasteland ruled by the 2.5D shooter. You might've heard the term "Doom Clone" at least once in your life, and that's because a lot of 2.5D shooters were referred to by that title, at least once. From the humble beginnings of Wolfenstein 3D came titans like Doom and Duke, respectively; and from the bones of those giants, came the next major leap in the gaming industry: Fully rendered 3D environments, forgoing sprites and voxels in exchange for polygons.
It gave form to the daddy of all 3D first person shooters...Quake. Today, we're looking at Quake Remastered.
It is the original 3D first person shooters, and it would forever change the gaming industry as a whole. Join me, JBTV, as I allow this relic of the past to test my patience.

I feel exponentially better about everything I do now. Gone is the stress and anxiety of trying to target Monetization; I find I am genuinely happy with the production process and the finished product when I focus on what I enjoy instead of what generates ad clicks.

Quake is one of my childhood favorites! I managed to get all of Quake Remastered's achievements on Steam making it part of my eleven games by today that remain on my Perfect Games list on Steam coming from someone who used no cheats but lots of save scumming instead. If you decide to play any of Quake's expansions all I have to say to you is good luck on doing so without save scumming! Nice video btw.

Loved this. Damn fine work and entertaining too! So many nostalgia feels. The multiplayer is where it was at. I played competitively in Clan PMS and had a blast. Met a lot of fantastic people, many of which I'm still friends with today and have met in real life. Quake multiplayer gameplay is still the bar by which I judge most multiplayer FPS games.

I used to play Quake online…the key word there is “used” to. I was a failure at Quake MP lolol

@@JBshreds when I first started, playing there was no server browser and I had a printed out list of server IP addresses. I ended up playing on clan 311's public server and thoroughly getting my ass handed to me not knowing they were one of the top competitive clans at the time. My original git gud was a real trial by fire 🤣

Played this on my 3DFX Voodoo card. The first 3D video card for gaming. The OG soundtrack and fx were done by Nine Inch Nails... which is why all of the nail ammo had "NIN" on them.
