When quake competition comes to mind, this matchup has to be my #1.. there's a lot of great ones in history, but i think this perfectly highlights the absolute ceiling for top level play in this game.. quake champs will just never have a match like this

Because QC isn't a real Quake game. The whole idea of Quake and deathmatch was as even a playing field as possible, and the removal of "luck" as a factor. The inclusion of different champions with different speeds, skills, abilities, etc ... that makes QC a MOBA. Not a 1v1 deathmatch FPS.

You can tell after that timeout when Rapha landed the direct, he wasn't sure if evil knew the game was back on and waited for him to attack first.

i really doubt that - the timeout had ended many seconds beforehand, and rapha doesn't "play nice" when it comes to high stakes tournaments. instead, that hesitation was just him taking his time and observing evil's dodge so he could attempt to get another direct rocket before committing to an all-out LG fight. he didn't get it, but decided that he could still be on time to pick up mega mid-fight, so he fully committed after whiffing a few rockets around the corner. but in short, no, he wasn't confused, he was just trying to aim/time his rocket and room entry properly.

Exzactly the reason pure skill based games like original quake /Afps games aren't popular is cuz they actually require you to be good at the game which discourages most plebs who r too pussy to admit defeat, hence games add rng to give them false hope that they can win and in the oof chance they may get lucky and sometimes win keeping them hooked to the game
